Jimmy Carter: Jesus would approve gay ‘marriage’ and some abortions (Video)

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 8, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – WWJD – What Would Jesus Do? – became a national catchphrase, inviting people to model their lives after Christ. Former President Jimmy Carter thinks he knows how the Nazarene would approach two hot-button issues of today.

“I believe Jesus would approve of gay marriage,” Carter said this week in an interview with HuffPost Live.

And he believes Jesus would approve abortion in the cases of rape and incest.

Carter told interviewer Marc Lamont Hill, “I never have run across any really serious conflicts between my political obligations and my religious faith.”

When Hill asked if Jesus Christ would support redefining marriage, Carter replied, “I believe Jesus would. I don’t have any verse in Scripture.”

Paul in Romans 1:32 says that things reprobates do is “worthy of death”.

Jude also refers to the example of Sodom and Gomorrha who “gave themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh (sodomites), are (present tense) set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Jude :7)

Jesus (God) has not repealed Leviticus 20:13. The penalty is still “the vengiance of eternal fire.”

We can know, to some extent, what Jesus would NOT do, though

Bingo.

In Matthew 7:15-23, Christ spends a lot of time talking about false prophets. Many don’t realize that verses 21-23 are continuing that condemnation of false prophets.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with casting out demons in Christ’s name and there’s nothing inherently wrong with doing wonderful works in Christ’s name. But there’s something profoundly wrong with falsely prophesying in Christ’s name. In fact, in verse 23, Christ promises hellfire to those who unrepentantly do so, because false prophets call God a liar, claiming He didn’t say something He said, and claiming He said something He didn’t say. Christ also alludes to this when, in verse 21, He mentions that just because one calls Him Lord doesn’t mean they will enter into heaven, only those who do the Father’s will. It’s not doing the Father’s will to call Him a liar.

What’s sad is false prophets (like Carter) are obviously deluded about the state of their souls. They’ll try to argue their case at judgment, and Christ will say “I never at any time knew you, depart from me you worker of wickedness.” And then they’ll be cast into hell.

I can see why he does not have any conflict between his religious faith and his political obligation. if he believes Jesus would support gay marriage and abortion he is reading a very different Bible than I am.

Yes agree. I guess I mean trying to apply that saying to political arguments mostly. Though this seems to be the past time of mostly LIBERAL Christians. When I might criticize letting in thousands of fake syrian refugees, liberals will trot out “what would Jesus do?” Frankly I really have no idea.

Jimmahmis all the proof we need that liberalism is a disease. It has eaten the good parts of his brain (assuming there were any good parts to start with). That is the only possible explanation for an avowed Chriatian trying to justify this kind of heretical BS.

Jimmah is up in years. I’m sort of dreading the barf-fest in the media when he kicks the bucket.

About a year ago, in a comments section of some website, I read that in the South of the past, the typical introductory question posed to a newcomer was, “So, are you a Baptist or a Republican?”

I attended a “non-denominational” (a virtual denomination unto itself) prep school, It was largely populated by Anabaptists of various denominations. I learned there that Baptists were consistently Democrat and “liberal”; as I grew older and wiser, I also realized that this thoroughly undermined their claim to be fundamental, Bible-believing Christians.

One young man who struggled there both academically and ideologically went on to thrive at secular colleges. He eventually became an ordained minister. We ultimately became estranged. I now consider him yet another heretical, hypocritical apostate pastor leading people astray from the pulpit.

This man, who claims to be a disciple of Christ, is filled with hate for America, for truth, for conservatism, for orthodoxy. He throve at secular schools because he shared all their Marxist views on just about everything.

In contrast, my spirit was vexed at those same schools, surrounded by hateful people who despised the Lord and his Natural Law.

I relate most of all to Lot, my favorite person from the Bible. In the Old Testament, through the eyes of Law, we see him as a pathetic weakling; in the New Testament, through the eyes of Grace, we see him as a righteous man.

I am a sinner, and flawed in many ways - but being surrounded by arrogant and carnal leftists in college vexed my soul. It is significant that the young Baptist male who became an ordained minister was not in the least vexed by those surroundings.

I figured out long ago that the so-called Evangelical, Jimmy Carter, was just another example of what I had seen elsewhere.

I am happy that Jimmy Carter was saved from his cancer. That would be true for any cancer patient!

However, Carter is really old, and will be dying (hopefully, falling asleep in the Lord, as we Orthodox say) before long. As with all of us, young or old, he needs repentance and confession! He does NOT need to devise blasphemous speculations which are contradicted by Scripture and the testimony of the Church throughout the ages.

Nor do the rest ion us need to listen to his off-base rantings. Instead, we need to say PHOOEY! to them, and to pray for him instead.
