A video of a white high school student publicly talking about race has gone viral, but not for the reasons one might expect when they hear the phrase 'privileged white teenager'.
In May, 14-year-old Royce Mann participated in a poetry slam at his private school in Atlanta, Georgia and took home the first place prize for the poem he wrote, which he called White Boy Privilege.
In it, the eighth grader is brutally honest about the ways in which he better off because he isn't black, Asian-American, Native American, or a woman — and signs off with a call to action to change that. Though the video was filmed at the Paideia School in May, it has recently gained momentum online after being posted on YouTube by Royce's mom, Sheri Mann Stewart.
As the clip begins, a fellow student introduces him to the audience, which is made up of other kids and teachers. Royce takes the microphone and announces the name of his poem — leading to a few hushed whispers through the room before he starts.
'Dear women, I’m sorry,' he starts. 'Dear black people, I’m sorry. Dear Asian-Americans, dear Native Americans, dear immigrants who come here seeking a better life, I’m sorry.
'Dear everyone who isn’t a middle or upper class white boy, I’m sorry. I have started life on the top of the ladder while you were born on the first rung.

Funny how he couldn't list one, just one, example of white privilege that he's received. The only thing he's received is class privilege, which has to do with his parents' bank account and not his skin color.

There you have it, the results of a liberally indoctrinated education - a self hating white kid! Let’s see what he thinks about his privilege when he’s denied any scholarships, admittance, or job placement because of reverse discrimination.

First prize. This is proof that literary prizes aren’t for the quality of the literary work, but for the progressiveness of the thoughts expressed.

I have no use for whites like this. They are the white equivalent of Uncle Toms. Make him live in a ghetto or barrio for a while. He’ll soon find out how “privileged” he is, as the cr** is being beaten out of him.

William Shetterly in his book “Making of a Social Justice Warrior” points out how SJWs are mistaking class privileges for racism, due to poverty being higher among the black community (though he doesn’t admit it IS due to community choices like the 80% illegitimacy rate among blacks versus 30% in whites).
This is how an upper class black can demand preferential admission to college and oppression over poor working class whites, while upper class women can say they are oppressed while the white girl in Appalachia is ignored.
His point of view is unique as a dedicated Marxist, so he’s criticizing social justice warriors from the far left.
And he detailed the precursor events in the scifi area for years prior to the Sad Puppies controversy, like female veteran scifi author Elizabeth Moon getting disinvited for saying we shouldn’t have a mosque by 9-11-01’s site when Muslims won’t let us have churches in Saudi Arabia - Islam trumped women’s rights ten years ago but has only become worse in the intervening years.
Plus there’s the story of the Cherokee alternate history author blacklisted because he’s conservative - another case where politics nullified racial diversity.
He wouldn’t change places with me, and I wouldn’t change places with him because it must be hard to breathe with your head lodged there ;)

His mom is an accomplished actress and understandably she’s trying to help her young son break into the biz, using a variation on material that they didn’t even originate.
They’re white enough to pass as The Dreaded Honky, but not white enough to really “let it get to them”.
They’re kicking dirt onto a group they loathe, being assumed to be members of the same.
