When the POTUS is angling for a national police force and claims local law enforcement can't handle the crisis he created, it is time for all local police to deputize all patriots to participate in the war against America.
I'll wear the star and come to the aid of our embattled police.
That's how it was done in the old west, that's how it should be done again.
Make that “local sheriff” and you’ve got a deal.

I can see it now, an old fat guy in tactical clothes with a shotgun, sidearm and cane. I wonder if I can still squeeze into my duty belt.
There is no money.
There is however the preservation of a constitutional free republic to future generations.
There should at least be an official protocol and procedures for CHL-holders to assist LEO’s in protecting their six from a distance during traffic stops, etc. I don’t mean engaging or interfering in any direct law enforcement activity ... unless requested to do so.
If I were governor of Texas, or Missouri, or Oklahoma, I would decree that all men 21-40 who were born in the state or have lived there 10 or more year, and who are ciitizens and not felons or otherwise of questionable character, are now part of the state militia. They would be allowed, nay, expected, to carry a weapon that the state trains them on, keep it on their person or in a vehicle and damn if the feds can do anything about it. Call on them when there is unrest. There probably won't be any.
No one ever mentions accuracy and credentials in these matters. Most of the Testosterone-Tommies I’ve seen who can’t hit a paper plate at 7 yards on a square range, would end up shooting more innocents than bad guys.
I have an idea. How about all levels of gov’t allow us to protect ourselves, with any and all means at our disposal. That is what I would like to see.

Now, the rats can’t decide whether they want only the cops to have guns, or nobody at all!! Stupid libs! (I hope it’s as painful as it looks.)
I know mine still fits. I would welcome the opportunity. After 36 years as a LEO it would be easy.
My biggest problem would be picking which sidearm and shotgun. I’ve only got one good cane.

Not under federal control. Jurisdiction over the entire county. Can tell the feds to take a hike.
Why do they have to be NRA? I support 2A and other gun rights groups but not the NRA. They spent too much money on things like asking for more money and sweepstakes, and caved more than once to the anti-gunners.
And why only men? I shoot better than most men, am better armed (once voted best armed Freeperette) and reload my own ammo. Most guys you describe couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn and I wouldn’t trust with weapons.
That is a system that could work.
