I've been thinking about the serious issue of gun control lately. Here is my dilemma. I have a nice AR that has about an 8-1/2 lb trigger pull. I'm having trouble controlling the size of groups. What aftermarket trigger do you recommend? I know a lot of politicians and media have been discussing a lot about gun control but I can't seem to recall anyone addressing my concerns.
Bump for later read

What size are your groups at 100 yards?
It could be your barrel. Or your ammo.
But then if you alter the trigger you might mistakenly have a fully automatic weapon....Oooooops! :-)
Gun control . The steady hand! :-)
I’m getting about 1-1/2 to 2” groups @100yds. Possible trigger candidates are JP Enterprises, Timney, Rock River, Velocity, POF, Geisselle, etc.I’m leaning towards the JP that costs about $115 but requires a minimum of smithing.
There are numerous triggers for sale. I have had several. One of my favorites is the Rock River match trigger. It’s reasonably priced, not as fancy or expensive as many of them out there, but does a good job for the money.
Don’t change the trigger setting. Just buy a couple more ARs. Then you would have a variety of trigger settings to choose from.
“...controlling the size of groups”
When the large anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life groups knock on your door for your guns, take out as many as you can.
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward. - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Im getting about 1-1/2 to 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thats about all you can expect with a standard of the shelf AR, that really good grouping.
Maybe also look into a different barrel with more lands and grooves and maybe some custom ammo.It might not be your trigger at all with those groups at 100 yards. I would be interested in seeing what transpires when you get the new trigger group.
Yeh, that makes sense! Every time a gun-grabbing ‘rat makes a statement about confiscating guns (so his constituency can have a monopoly) I get the hankering to buy another AR. I’m looking seriously at an AR10 if Hitlery gets elected!
Go to a 2-stage like the Geissele

They help greatly.
Try using your middle finger... More central to the hand and better to flip, er, flick faster
Geissele
Very easy to install and makes a HUGE difference. Also take a look at the JP Rifle captured buffer springs...really smooths out the operation.
I’m very happy with my Rock River AR-15. My RR AR-10 (LAR-8) won’t lock back on the last round, and I’m playing with different ammo. May go back to the factory for some work. Both have the 2-stage match triggers...which I like a lot.
The Constitution requires Congress to provide for the arming and training of the militia. Since Congress ALWAYS follows the Constitution, I assume you simply make your Congressperson aware of your AR’s stiff trigger pull, and he/she/it will dispatch the BATFE armorer to tune her up. Since it’s an election year, they might bring some free cigars, whiskey, and C4 to go with that.
The Armalite is an excellent weapon and a great choice. But be prepared to wait 12-15 months to get one.
“The Constitution requires Congress to provide for the arming and training of the militia.”
The Second Militia Act of 1792 says you will provide your own rifle, but we know that they only meant water and nerf guns. We don’t want to scare the snowflakes.
Any good gunsmith can do a trigger-job for you in 20 min. or so........
Mine (or the one I used to have before the boat accident) is about a sweet 2 lbs........after my gunsmith friend did it in my own shop before my very eyes.......
Before you spend a lot of money on a new trigger assembly, try a set of the JP yellow hammer and trigger springs.
