We saw no other option than to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension to detonate where the suspect was
Criminal lives don’t matter...
It’s war.....and that is the correct way to fight the enemy!
And you have confidence that the current FBI would be willing/able to extract/use the information? I have a bridge ...
They killed him after several hours of negotiation. I would assume that several hours was enough time to get any civilians out of the line of fire.
If they used a frag bomb, like a Claymore, I would be really disturbed. I would assume it was a breaching explosive which killed by blast overpressure or brisance.
Any use of force still has centuries of judicious use of lethal force philosophy behind it.
The situations change to match new technology but the underlying philosophy is ancient.

EOD commonly use explosives to detonate bombs. EOD commonly use robots to neutralize bombs. In this case, EOD used a bomb squad robot to deploy a small explosive to take out the sniper.
“FWIW, a bullet is an explosive device . It is much more directional than a bomb, but both bombs and bullets kill by sending out flying pieces of metal.”
Right you are! Please pass ths along to “Rinnwald” he/she seems to be really “concerned” about “police bombmakers.” Then there’s the “we needed to take him alive” contingent. Seems to me that “being taken alive” is a situation to be decided by the shooter. Personally, I think the DPD got the best of both worlds last night, they killed the shooter, but he lived long enough to give a “complete statement:” “ I hate white people, I hate white cops more!” But he also said he acted alone which appears to be a lie.
With a Robot for a killer then maybe they would not have to try to prosecute the SWAT member that would’ve shot him.
5 dead, 6 wounded. Said he had bombs planted. They could have used a tactical nuke for all I care.
A suitable alternative to the bomb would have been a flamethrower!
That point must be conceded.
Frankly, it's 50-50 that the Regime is involved somehow, IMO.
If we are going to complain about the weapons that the police are allowed to use for self defense, then how can we complain when the police or the government tell the citizens what types of weapons they can use. Are the people here who are willing to tie the hands of local law enforcement on the weapons they can use willing to defer to others the decision on what kind of weapon they can use under similar situations?
MOVE along, nothing to see there...
[this public service announcement brought to you by move-on and don't look at 0bama and Hillary too much, dot-org]
For the lurkers who may have missed what you said, or not know what you were talking about if they didn't, from our [ahem, cough] friends at npr;
Sarcasm duly noted, but no need to pass it along. It's been posted to my listing. "He" can read.
Of more interest to "him" would be knowing at what point would vette6387 be concerned about police tactics and equipment?
