Trying to find info on some bits and pieces that I've seen in other replies on some of the Dallas Threads.
Did the police use a robot to deliver a bomb to take out the dead perp? Or did the perp have a bomb that detonated?
I am bothered by the police---POLICE---using a bomb to kill the shooter. Yes, execute the murderer now or later, but the idea that the police are now going to use bombs to kill people instead of negotiating and waiting out people is surreal. This is, in my opinion, an escalation of militarization of the police and a very, very bad idea. Worse, it simply adds more power to the police to run roughshod over citizenry.
I think this is a whole like of discussion worth having, and separate from the emotion of the Black Lives Matters insurrection we are seeing. Not sure this is terrorism, seems more like violent insurrection against the government.

If they would have had a small drone type weapon to use at the PULSE club, it would have saved lives. Instead they negotiated and waited for several hours while people bled to death.
Speaking of "bits and pieces", it appears that's all that's left of the perp.
I don’t know what the circumstances were specifically, but I surmise (from the news reports so far) that the guy wasn’t going to come out, was going to kill as many cops as possible if they came in, or perhaps even other people.
If that’s anywhere near accurate, I don’t have a problem with the police doing an assisted suicide on the guy.
According to CNN just it was a robot bearing a bomb.

Here is a tip, do not hole up for two hours negotiating with police and stating the end is near and bombs are planted throughout the city, and expect the negotiations to last much longer. Especially after killing 5 police officers and firing again. The idiot gave the police justification to end it then as quickly as possible.

Could have been a ‘entry device’. Slag for bomb. The Philly police used a couple in 85’ to gain entry to the black power MOVE group holed up in a house. They ended up burning down 65 houses from the resulting fire.
But what about if next week or month it’s Robert Smith in a Dallas suburb, a veteran and avid gun collection and target shooter? Say, busy body neighbor “sees something”, sees Robert packing up several guns on Saturday morning to go shooting. The next day police bang on his door, demanding he come out, maybe they take a more aggressive approach since Robert reportedly has an arsenal. Robert, like many of us, say our guns are legal, none of their business, and no to entry. The police, now armed with explosives, cut short any discussion by sending one in and killing Robert. Robert with his dozen guns and several thousand rounds of ammo is dead. End of story. One can write that many ways but it is not hard to imagine some gun-hating police chief, armed with California, New York, or other laws, taking such an approach.

“About 1:20 a.m., an explosion went off at El Centro. Police said they placed a bomb robot near the shooter and detonated a bomb it was holding, killing him.”
Bravo! Send up moar bomb. Dead is dead.
