I know his son. so very sad RIP Tom and Semper Fi!
RIP, I thought he was older than that. Sad that he died at 73. I knew him from when he was on WOR in NY during the early 2000s and substituting. He was friends with Bob Grant.
He was worried about that surgery. He hinted as much last time he hosted for Levin.
Former Oriole broadcaster.
I wonder if this is the hospital’s fault.
He was the only one of Levin’ s subs I enjoyed, especially his monologues. RIP. He had a great career.
I’ll miss him.
A great great man, God bless him, this is sad
RIP, Tom
Prayers for his family.................RIP Tom, so sad
Listened to him the short time he was in Philly. Excellent host.
RIP Tom Marr. You made Levin’s show listenable.
I’ll jump in for this.
May the Road Rise up to Meet You!
May the Winds be always at you Back.
May the Sun shine warm upon your face.
And the rains fall lightly upon your fields.
And until we meet again.
May God hold you in the Palm of his hand!!
Rest in Peace good Man!
!
Until we ( all ) meet
Tom was a great host, the greatest around.
He broadcast Orioles baseball games for some years back around 1980 when the Orioles were on WFBR Radio.
Rest in Peace, Tom Marr, a true patriot. I always enjoyed his shows on special days like Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
He often spoke of being a lapsed Catholic, and how he knew his late mother was praying for him. I hope he got things straightened out. He was an outspoken pro-lifer.
A great patriotic voice has gone silent. RIP Tom, and thanks for the memories.
I used to be a smart alec in grade school and middle school, and my friend David and I discovered the "magic" of recording crank calls to radio stations. We (mostly David-I got too nervous) successfully fooled Frank And Mary, Frank Ford, Dr James Corea...Bernie Herman, But I could never fool Tom.
Tom saw through my "angry black man" disguise wondering why the people at the Empire State Building never celebrated "black history mumf" by putting up blacklights on top of the building in February.
After he disposed of me, he cooly stated "Another notch on the holster" He didn't buy my (very good) Indian accent and asked me why if I think WWDB never let Indians call, I was on the air talking to him. After having no answer for him, Tom then asked me what part of India I am from. To combat nervousness, I had written down my character's official "biography", that included his name, location, job, and other things, except his home country. I tried to change the subject. He asked me again in that kind of drawl he had: "What part of India are you from?"
My answer? Bangladesh?
He hung up the phone.
Another stroke following surgery - those doctors do love those blood-thinners......
So very sorry to hear this, I loved it when that guy sat in for the Great One.
RIP Marine.
Tom was a great broadcaster and an even greater American.
RIP - you will be a hard act to follow.
Eventually they lured him up to do afternoons but then instead of doing his show they forced him to do infomercials for stuff disquised as his show. He quit that almost immediately and I have only heard him a handful of times since. Always enjoyed his shows whenever I did get to hear one.
RIP, Tom. RIP.
Oh no! Listen to WCBM’s Sean and Frank every morning via the net and listened to Tom afterwards if I had a week day off.
Good man. Prayers for him and his family.
