Pro-independence Texans werent the only ones energized by the vote by Brexit vote.
The California secession movement has been riding a wave of interest since Thursdays vote by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. The campaign has already gained a Brexit-inspired nickname: Calexit
We have a lot of people sending us messages and a lot of people want to find our online digital version of our independence referendum, said Louis Marinelli, who heads the Yes California Independence Campaign. We have a lot of people who have joined our Facebook page, a lot of people who are talking about this issue on Twitter. The #Calexit hashtag for example has begun organically. Theres another one called #Caleavefornia.
Yes California, which formed in August after the shuttering of Sovereign California, has been gathering support for an initiative aimed at November 2020 that would begin the process of severing California from the union.
What makes the Brexit vote so important is that it shows secession isnt just a relic of the 19th century, said Mr. Marinelli.
This is an example of an independence movement occurring in the Western world, a modern-day, 21st century [case] of a political entity seceding from a political union, he said. And so now Californians who hear the word secession, they dont have to think of the Civil

Where do I sign up?
Oh, please God, be an answered prayer...
Sad to say, but this could be a very good thing for the rest of the USA
I’m a native Californian that left in 1979...let the Mexicans have it... Oh wait they already do.
“Sad to say, but this could be a very good thing for the rest of the USA”
And we better build a wall, a very big wall.
Maybe Hawaii ought to have its independence too while we’re at it? My position is...evolving on a number of these difficult issues. I think my position will reach full evolution around November 8th.
Please do. We can do with a whole lot fewer CA Dems in the US.

I would support this movement on one condition—that all residents be certified rabid libtards and no one, once they have emigrated to California, may leave to any other part of the US. Like the safe cities in the Bible, California would be the ultimate liberal haven, hopefully siphoning off every other rabid rat from the entire country. Eventually the state would die of it own stupidity.
Better get those desalinization plants working asap, bc...no colorado river for YOU
The old boy honestly thinks he would personally survive the process—the DOD is not going to allow California to leave the union, and they won’t let any one individual try to stir the secession pot. The guy will die in a strange accident.
What happens to those in California who want to remain in the union??
Would those who want to stay in the USA be compelled to move to another state?
What about all the military installations in California? Who would own them and operate them?
what about citizenship? Would everyone in Calif. be a citizen of California only, and lose American citizenship?
What about California’s share of the national debt? Would the new People’s Republic of California cut a check to Uncle Sam for that amount?
What about (fill in the blank)? There are dozens of logistical and practical questions such as these, which would come up if a state were to secede from the union.
I think if they had a little more political support, they might actually get somewhere. I think if Hillary wins, we should ALL give this movement that support. This is a win-win for us.

And New England
As long as they take the 1/2 of the national debt that Pelosi wrote I’m good with it.
“What happens to those in California who want to remain in the union??”
Same thing that will happen to anti-Brexit folks, and the same thing that happened to the 40% of the colonists that did not want to leave the King.
“Would those who want to stay in the USA be compelled to move to another state?”
No, they would have to move to the USA, at that point it will not be just another state, but another country.
“What about all the military installations in California? Who would own them and operate them?”
Please see Cuba or the Philippines for your question.
“what about citizenship? Would everyone in Calif. be a citizen of California only, and lose American citizenship?”
Eligible for dual citizenship, which includes dual income tax liability, like now with Americans working in other countries.
“What about Californias share of the national debt? Would the new Peoples Republic of California cut a check rUncle Sam for that amount?”
Send them a bill. Response taken into consideration when figuring their credit rating and exchange rate on trade.
Countries break away all the time, what happened to the former Soviet states? Or Bermuda, or _______ fill in the blank?
Just give them to Mexico, now.
From San Francisco to San Diego and 60 miles inland would be all that's left.
25+million people and 23million angry ghetto dwellers wanting their share of the pie.
Damn, that would be fun to watch.
