Baby Boomers are the Zombie Invasion We’ve Feared
The Washington Post ^ | June 29, 2016 | Dan Zak

Posted on 06/30/2016 9:05:34 PM PDT by MoochPooch

It’s like the last twist in a horror movie. You think the baby boomers are dead, or at least easing into retirement, and then they thrust their claw up from the dirt, or lunge from the bathtub with a knife. Or take over a presidential election. Or decide to “liberate” your country from an economic partnership that is imperfect but deeply popular among younger generations whose vision is more kaleidoscopic than the color scheme of a national flag.

“YOU STOLE OUR FUTURE FROM US,” said a blue banner hoisted by two young women in front of Big Ben after the United Kingdom voted to “Brexit” the European Union last week.

The “YOU,” of course, are the olds. The pensioners and soon-to-be pensioners. Voter turnout among Brits over 55 years old was 82 percent, according to the BBC. Among Brits under 34, it was 47 percent. If at least 65 percent of British millennials had turned out, the outcome would probably have been different.

A more accurate banner then: “WE LET YOU STEAL OUR FUTURE.”

Whose future is it anyway? The politician who’s approaching his or her life expectancy? Or the first-time voter who might have another 70 years on the planet?

Forget class warfare. There was generational warfare on Twitter after the Brexit vote.

Who's the real zombie? If staying in the EU was so important to these young people, why didn't they turn in droves to vote?

This article shows an intrinsic self-contradiction. The very liberalism these kids craved under the "borderless" EU made them apathetic and politically ineffectual. The geezers who went out and voted retained a civic responsibility thanks to conservative values.

Which leads me to wonder -- who is going to run the country -- any country -- after the Baby Boomers/Generation Xers are gone?

Sorry — “turn OUT in droves.” (I’m a little tired.)

Much hatred I sense in this author.

Not to mention dullness of intellects.

As a member of The Silent Generation I get a kick out of seeing The Boomers get hammered.

Boomers were always “full of themselves” as my Irish MIL used to say.

Pretty funny !

If they protested against FTAs and government debt on that basis, they’d have a damn good point - their elders racked up one hell of a bill and guess who is expected to pay it down?

But they’re protesting for international Fascism instead... dumbasses.

“younger generations whose vision is more kaleidoscopi”

That may be a sign of brain damage.

Hateful,self-centred little turds.

Whole hoard of slacker youth that just wanted to cruise along killing time and playing games just found out the cookie jar is running empty. The fifty-plus crowd have been the go-to guys to show up and get things done, as their descendents couldn’t be bothered.

They were caught flat-out ditching on important stuff, they could have gone to the polls—and now they want a do-over. They now want to cancel someones vote because they were too lazy to get off the couch.

The biggest black mark on the ‘Boomers is the snowflake generation that they somehow produced.

AWESOME! Now I’m a zombie. Hey kids. If you think I stole something from you, stop on by and reclaim whatever you think it is. Or try anyway.

The baby boomers remember what it was like to have freedom and full employment and one job supporting a family and on and on. The ruling elites have ordered their lapdog media to erase those memories.

If the Boomers are wising up to the stupidity of economic strip mining and lowest common denominator labor wages for the global workforce, more power to them.

As a Gen-Xer working at a major corporation, I am weeping everytime a boomer walks out the door. Why? Because I now have to do their job, my job, and take care of the know-it-all never-done-anything group of 20 somethings that think they should be VP’s after 3 years of experience. Yes, it is that painful.

I’m an early Boomer. I have a daughter. She’s deaf but can hear with hearing aids. She runs her own business. Her oldest son is in the Navy.

Maybe you could narrow your brush a bit.

Thanks!

I am hoping that some of them might outgrow it, but I feel pessimistic.
