Attorney General Loretta Lynch described her Monday meeting with Bill Clinton aboard a private plane as primarily social, but even Democrats are struggling to stomach the optics of the attorney generals meeting with the former president while his wife is under federal investigation.
Lynch said she and Clinton talked only of grandchildren, golf, and their respective travels, but the fact that the two spoke privately at all was enough to rekindle concerns about a possible conflict of interest. Republicans have long called into question the ability of a Democratic-led Department of Justice to conduct an independent investigation into Hillary Clintons use of a private email server, based inside her Chappaqua, New York, home, during her tenure as secretary of state.
Once news of their meeting on the tarmac at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport broke, Democrats made clear that while the meeting was likely as innocent as Lynch described, it did not give the Justice Department the appearance of independence.

This administration needs an enema!
ML/NJ
Yeah, it looks like a scheduled meeting. Congress needs to ask some questions about how this meeting happened. It looks fishy.
Optics. Even if they only discussed mundane and mutually uninteresting topics, the timing and the apparent dismissal of the value of the meeting by Lynch, only leads to speculation that some very different subjects may have been brought up.
Question - Would a hypothetical discussion of bringing an indictment against Herself seriously impact the direction of the campaign? Since Herself is most of the focus of the campaign on both sides, having little to do with prospective plans going forward in dealing with any other domestic or foreign matters, a number of other subjects remain unresolved, and kind of pushed off the table.
Passing off documents and a thumb drive with instructions and targeted witnesses for approval.
A prune juice enema at that!
re: Negotiating her nomination to the Supreme Court?
Negative. Negotiating Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
As in,
“I will trade you one or more Supreme Court nomination for the squashing of any and all indictments”?
My guess is he was there to threaten her and Obama.
That’s what I thought. Like when H whispered in Kathleen Willey’s ear, after she had been raped by B, “do you understand the consequences of everything you do???”
Maybe but she better give damn good....Lewinsky.
And perhaps they did not “directly” talk about any investigations or wrong-doing, because (supposedly) Loretta’s husband was there, so WJC could talk to HIM, with Loretta sitting right next to him.
Dims groan after meeting leaked. Uh, why are they groaning? Nothing will come of it other than padding lala’s bank account with “charitable” donations.
I’m envisioning Bubba sliding some large photos of Lynch’s grandchildren across a desk...surveillance type photos taken with a long lens...grandkids getting in the car, going to school, etc...
Just to let Lynch know that he can find her grandkids.
I’d like to think that the Secret Service tipped off the media.
They should start by hacking all emails related to Loretta’s schedule and travel plans.
They may groan but they will also forgive and forget.
Quickly.
What a coincidence they A) happened to be at the same airport at the same time B) Knew the phone number to reach each other.
You all know how huge an airport is. They just happened to cross paths on the tarmac? Just talked about family?
What family matters? Mob business that’s what!
“democracy and freedom were blooming.”
Interesting. That was my first thought as well. It was awesomely bad optics for her to meet with him. And, we are fully justified in thinking that it was a negotiating session.
Negotiating her nomination to the Supreme Court?
Maybe but she better give damn good....Lewinsky.
well, there is a visual we could do without. But given that it’s Bill Clinton involved, anything is possible. They were alone together, so who knows????
