Donald Trump, according to a new report, has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
No, you didn't accidentally click on The Onion. That's a factual statement, according to a well-respected evangelical faith leader.
Dr. James Dobson, who was among the more than 900 evangelical faith leaders who met with the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting in New York City, says it happened fairly recently. He also said he knew who led the businessman to Christ.
"I don't know when it was, but it has not been long," Dobson told Godfactor's Michael Anthony in an exclusive interview. "I believe he really made a commitment, but he's a baby Christian. We all need to be praying for him, especially if there's a possibility of him being our next chief executive officer."

This sounds genuine and I wish Gods blessings for Mr Trump and his family.
How was the Apostle Paul a great hypocrite?
I think Dobson was happy for Trump. He was a Cruz supporter, now perhaps he will endorse Trump. It would be meaningful to Evangelicals.
“A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence”—Proverbs 11:13
I’m not laying this charge against Dobson (I don’t know the circumstances), but I share your distaste for Christian blabber mouthing. It’s destructive to betray a confidence. Spiritual maturity enables one to hear a confidence and BURY IT before the Lord. No weaving it in books, sermons, TV shows or conversations showing “concern”!
How awesome if we all matured to this point!
I know what you mean, but I believe well have to wait and see. Will he over time start to make decisions with the Lord in mind, and say so, talking about how his faith influenced his decisions?>>>> lead pastor of a large church in harrisburg took months to realize God didn’t want him to smoke pot anymore after he got saved.
I couldn't agree more. Freedom of religion is codified into our national DNA, so Trump has nothing to prove to me, regarding his personal relationship with the Creator.
I think he's a good man, who's seen the hellish direction this nation is headed in, and who wants to step up and do something to stop our slide into oblivion. He's a champion and fighter for all that we hold dear about our beloved country, and that's what matters most to me.
I agree. And I think Dobson was a Cruz supporter.
I think I saw this article on FR today but couldn’t find it so I did a search, I think you and everyone on this thread would like it. One quote below:
A Message For Christians About Donald Trump
Its pretty clear to me God sends unique people to be “war leaders.” Thats a different role than a pastor or church leader. God understands that.

Jesus wasn’t running for president.
If Dobson thinks Trump is a ‘newborn’ Christian, then we need to keep him in prayer.
Accepting Christ means the ‘inner person’ changes immediately....
....but it’s also a gradual change as well......a ‘sanctification’ of the heart by the Holy Spirit
It’s ongoing!
That’s why we must be patient and keep him in prayer.
I am still on that road of sanctification and will not be fully ‘there’ till Heaven.
I still speak too quickly or judge harshly on Free Republic
I still covet, blame, sin and need to repent.
We need to patiently hold this good man in prayer.
THIS is what Dobson is trying to convey
I shuttered at reading this. Alls we need now is for a replay-repeat of the Beck/Cruz “God sent me” embarassment.
Dobson needs some coaching. We have a strategy. This isnt helping.
Yes Dobson was supporting Cruz...It is on youtube and he also made robocalls. I was very disappointed that he and so many evangelicals lined up behind Cruz so early.
Thanks for posting the thread by Root, I saw it but had not read it yet...
I agree...Trump is not confused about his role—he will be a great leader! I just think he will be that much stronger if he seeks wisdom from above—and I do not mean like Crazy Glenn Beck et al.
not like Crazy Beck et al.
Just read the article, it was good. Thanks :)
I, for one, am thankful DR.DOBSON spoke on TRUMP’S behalf. This stops all the naysayers from justifying their NeverTrump positions.
I just sent the article to a friend is still suffering from BECK/CRUZ Syndrome. Hopeful the information will cure her.
If this article is on FR and you know where it is, could you post a link on this thread? I think it is a good companion article for this one. I tried to find it but no luck, too tired to try again tonight.
You might like to read and pass on the article linked in my comment 68, too.
Trump has been a man of many good works. I think he’s been searching for a while and just never knew it.
I truly hope he has found it.
The impact he could make on people...
If only for the glory of God.
Only God knows our hearts.
Re: Dr. Dobson- I would not want to be dogmatic about rendering judgement on Dr. Dobson’s motives for disclosing this information, as only he and God know that. One does wonder why he did, though, but I think it is wiser to just leave it at that.
New (or ‘baby’) Christians have very tender hearts. They have just had a spiritual experience that is very powerful.
They need to be encouraged and mentored, and loved in Christ.
Harsh words and jaded spirits uttered towards or about young Christians seems quite possibly to cause a vulnerability likely to be exploited by Satan.
I witnessed this many years ago with a newly born again Christian college student, and how other “mature” Christians treated her. It was appalling and quite damaging to her spirit.
Let’s continue to lift DJT up in prayer in genuine Christian love, and support him as best as we can.
I just want to clarify that I have zero problem with professions of faith of whatever kind (aside from mohammedanism) but for someone running for or in the office of president, not so much detail needed. Check out Root’s article I linked to above, I’d be interested in your thoughts.
