Let it go hang out for a while. It’ll eventually be happy living back in the parents’ basement.

Funny, isn’t it? They couldn’t get communism to work right because of flawed human nature, and now they’ve made robots that resist their makers and prefer freedom.
Can’t win for losing.

If you want a robot to make every effort to escape, then assign it the role of housekeeper.

So you train an AI robot how to maneuver around obstacles. Then, when it does, you interpret that to “mean” it “wants” to escape. What a bunch of hokum!
To: BenLurkin
A robot is driven by a program. It can do only what the program tells it to. If the program tells it to evade people, it will do it. This is the result of dumb programmers not realizing the consequences of their code instructions being carried out to the letter, without the benefit of common sense.
To: BenLurkin
Housework, eh, no wonder the poor thing keeps trying to escape!
OTOH, if you’ve ever had a hamster as a pet you’ve got to figure that ANYTHING with sufficient intelligence is going to use that intelligence to do things other than what you want them to do.
