forgive the lack of capitalization. i am back in front of a computer for the first time since friday, june 17th, and only typing with one hand.
i was coming home from work on friday when i hit a single bar lane barrier that should not have been down. it knocked me off my bike at about 50mph and i rolled some distance on the pavement.
my request is for my wife--she must take care of me and is ill-prepared for it.
pray she gets the strength to do so.
Thanks for the ping. Prayers up.
Dude. May the Lord give both of you strength.
I know that with me, not being able to do things for yourself is more annoying than what is actually troubling me.
Prayers.
Sending prayers....
Healing prayers for you...Prayers for strength for your wife.
Thankful prayers that you are still with us.
Lord, give strength to Thy servant and his wife at the time of their trial.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Prayers sent for you and your wife!
May the healing power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you and your wife.
I’ve lost a few months out of my life in hospital rooms looking after loved ones who probably shouldn’t be here. I have a beautiful wife and two daughters to remind me every day that miracles do occurr.
You and your wife won’t get beat physically; the risk is in getting beat mentally. Together the two of you are far stronger.
Get all the in-home health, physical and occupational terrorists (I mean therapists, my wife is an OT) you can get. They can push you further than you or your wife can push you and it will ease the burden on both you.
Never forget that men make the worst patients. Men compartmentalize, women do not. Whatever caused your last flash of anger or frustration is forgotten 20 minutes later. Your wife will still be dealing with it 20 years from now. Now is the time for you to put the “gentle” in gentleman.
You survived for a reason and a purpose; that may not become apparent for a couple of decades. Survivor guilt and PTSD are not limited to combat veterans. Bring the demons into the light and face them head on with your wife at your side. In the bright Iight of reason they are far less fearsome, and they have no power over your wife.
You do not need two good arms to pray. Pray frequently with your wife. You will be AMAZED how often that becomes quite romantic.
ShadowAce, you are a far better Systems Engineer and a far better man with one fully functional arm, than most of us are with two. You and you wife will beat this.
May God keep and hold the two of you in the palm of his hand.
Natty
Healing prayers lifted up for the healing of your arm, for
your dear wife’s learning to tend to your injuries, and for
the good health of you and your family. Prayers up to Father
God through the Holy Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly
pray for your lives to be whole again, bodies and souls.
Amen.
You and yours are in my prayers ShadowAce. There is much to be grateful for: You are alive, the magnificent doctors and support staff who stitched you up and care for you, your loved ones who rally around, you can post on FR, and I’m sure there is much more you can add to this list. Gratitude is prayer.
And now, in mother mode, may I just say, 50 MILES AN HOUR? ON A BICYCLE? ARE YOU INSANE? DON’T DO THAT AGAIN!
Prayers for a speedy recovery and strength for you and your wife.
Note to self: Ride slower down hills.
Prayers sent for you and your wife.
You’ve got it, thanks SM for the headsup.
Done.
What BiggRedd said.

One day at a time. Will be praying for you ShadowAce (((((Hugs)))))
Motorcycle accident
motorcycle.
Oops. Sorry about that, my friend.
My brother is a motorcycle man. As a sideline to his regular job, he finds old Harleys, tinkers with them for about six months and then sells them.
He once told me about the day he got tired of having motorcycle accidents, although as far as I know, he had nothing as drastic as yours. Anyway, he decided then and there he wouldn't have them anymore. And he hasn't had a single one since he made that decision. However, I will say, he drives infuriatingly slow now. ; - )
For your amusement and to pass the time, here's his most recent post on his facebook page about "Thumper":
The one and only, the illustrious, the majestical, "Thumper!". It may just look like an old Shovelhead to some but this mechanical wonder has a heart of steel and once carried me and my steady through many magical mysterious places, and hair raising adventures, under a silver moon, on warm summer evenings, prowling the Pacific Coast Highway.
