Not just Eisenhower. If you follow links etc others have been “suspected” also. Since there were many laws against those who even had one drop, it was to their detriment to keep quiet.

Ida was not only a woman, she was a woman of slave decendant , college educated before it was fashionable for most women, Her degree in engineering had to influence Ike’s interest in roads/interstate She was a pacifist who gave birth to a general , who lead men into battle and a country into peace.

When you are the one to post a contoversial claim about a revered Republican president, it is your duty to back it up if you want other freepers to believe it. Since you were not too sick to post the claim, and you have not been too sick to post your dubious source for the claim once challenged, I fail to see the justification for calling me lazy after I have sent you literally thousands of links twice a day, plus numerous comments, over the past 7.5 months. It’s shocking. I am sorry you are ill; but you have no idea how I feel, or why.

I really don't care about anyone's race. Religious beliefs and ideology are what make a person of character. But I was beyond insulted that I have sent hoosiermama literally reams of cited material about Donald Trump for months and months, and have been daily refuting the many lies told about Donald Trump on FR with factual research, and she had the gall to call me lazy.
Secondly, having already researched these claims about Ike and having rejected them (as have responsible historians and genaologists), I reject the current fashionable trend of "finding out" that this or that historic figure is "actually" black or gay. "I read it on the Internet so it must be true" is no excuse for ignoring the smear against a public figure's honesty and integrity that "passing" would have demanded.

No, you can't see it. Only DNA research can see it, in his case, and at least according to Snopes, DNA testing hasn't been done, because the family understands the improbability of these retroactive, visual-based claims based on a single photograph of his mother.
At the time when Ike lived, misegenation was against the law, and the "one-drop" rule held people to account for even one-eighth or one-sixteenth black ancestry. It is not a "family secret" he could have just lived with all his life, for the following reasons:
As a practical matter, he would have had to have declared his when entering West Point in 1911, and if it were ever determined even by sight that he lied by attempting to "pass", he would have been drummed out of the Academy or later military service. If he were aware of such a family secret, it is unlikely that he could have developed the strong leadership traits over white men he exhibited all of his life, even at the Academy. Few people can thrive on guilt or shame, and public shaming regarding race was regrettably commonplace in those days.
Aspiring to be a military officer, he knew he would have to travel to many unknown locations in states with varying degrees of tolerance or persecution. This would not have been possible if his living mother displayed racial ambiguity in her features to those who eyewitnessed her (she lived until 1946, when Ike was by then a long-prominent American hero who made no attempt to hide his mother). Dwight Eisenhower not only looked stereotypically white, he was also blue-eyed, as was Mamie. Her Iowa family would have interacted with him and his mother prior to or during their wedding and family life, giving them close eyewitness access. Dwight Eisenhower had not one, not two, not three, but six brothers, several of whom also were in public life, particularly the educator Milton Eisenhower. Whenever there are recessive racial traits in a family, with this many children, at least one of them would likely have displayed marked mixed-race features. Secondly, when the fervor about racial Civil Rights started reaching a peak in the late 50s and early 60s, of which Ike was a trail-blazing presidential leader due to his respect for the valor of the segregated troops of blacks he had witnessed in WWII, surely one of the seven Eisenhower sons would have been tempted or pressured to "come out." One of Ike's many nieces or nephes of his large group of brothers would have displayed recessive racial characteristics. But that did not happen.
And lastly, as a political reality, Dwight Eisenhower had many pollitical enemies who would have delighted in starting rumors to discredit him. To established Republicans, he was suspect because he switched from Democrat to Republican to run for president. And to segregationists, he was the devil incarnate because he championed the civil rights of blacks. Having seen how black troops had performed admirably during WWII and set about to complete Truman's initiatives to integrate the armed forces. He sent the first civil rights bill to Congress since Reconstruction, where Republicans fought against segregationist Democrats and Dixiecrats to pass it. And he sent the National Guard to keep the peace when segregationists fought school integration in the South. It stands to reason that racialists would try to dig up or invent a racialist, tribal reason for his having done the right thing because he was a fair-minded leader, was experienced in the horrors of war and life-and-death patriotism, was a devout Christian and was a decent human being. Those reasons are never believable to leftists, racists or liberals.
The only possibility that this story is true is that it was truly unknown to him and possibly even to his mother—before the age of Oprah, people did not disclose troublesome episodes and just suppressed problematic information and got on with life as best they could. Given the above biological probabilities of one child, nephew or niece of the seven brothers "showing" —and yet none did, a reasonable person simply can't give this idea any credence.
As I said, I really do not personally care at all if he were part black. But I do care if he was honest and trustworthy. Those were different times, when "boy scout" and "officer and a gentleman" and even "honor and chivalry" still meant something. Uniike hoosiermama, I did not meet him when I was a small child, but when I was a grown woman. I looked directly into those blue eyes and saw his typically wispy white hair and pink-and-white freckled German-Irish skin, from inches away. This is how he looked, only even paler and more freckled, since it was springtime and he was not yet tanned:
And lastly, Eisenhower's papers were curated and edited for decades here in Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins University. I have been friends with one of the papers' editors since the late 90s. If there were any truth to these rumors, I am reasonably certain I would have been told directly. Since in these days and since the late 60s most Americans now accept that there should be no shame in possessing any type of racial characteristics, the disclosure of actual black heritage would only bring Ike more admiration, not less.
