'Star Trek' Actor Anton Yelchin Killed by Own Car at Age 27

Anton Yelchin, a rising actor best known for playing Chekov in the new "Star Trek" films, was killed in a car accident early Sunday, police and his publicist said.

Yelchin, 27, was struck by his own car as it rolled backward down his driveway in Studio City, according to Los Angeles police Officer Jenny Hosier. The car pinned Yelchin against a brick mailbox pillar and a security fence.

He had gotten out of the vehicle momentarily, but police did not say why he was behind it when it started rolling.

He was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal, Hosier said. When he didn't show up, the group came to his home and found him dead.

This happened to me once. The SUV (Jeep) door was still open, so I leapt back in and hit the brake. Stupid, but I was afraid it would kill someone. Thank God no one was injured.

No Q in pre-next generation ST history.... And in this altered universe possibly none at all.

It still wasn’t with him, was it. I realize the difference in shows BTW. I liked Star Trek, never cared for Star Wars.

It might not have been my Jeep, come to think of it. It might have been our first SUV.

That is so sad.
He had a serious future in acting

They will probably get a new Chekov and act like nothing has changed.

There have been other cases where new actors take the place of old ones. John-Boy Walton comes to mind. They had a new John-Boy for a while. They had a new replacement Becky on Roseanne Barr’s show. It happens. Chekov was a major character so I expect they will replace him, not have him get killed off.

In Jimmy “JJ Dynomite!” Walker’s stand up routine he mentioned that he auditioned for the Waltons to play the part of Boy-Boy.

Devastating.
But the only actor who really got his part down was the guy playing Bones. The rest are replaceable.

That’s a crappy way to die. I like him in ST and Alpha Dog. RIP!

Former Indiana Congressman, Lee Hamilton’s wife, was killed in 2012 when her own car ran her over. Horrible.

“No Q in pre-next generation ST history.... And in this altered universe possibly none at all.”

No, Q is a godlike entity and therefore exists in all ST possibilities. He only chosen to reveal himself in two series (I believe) but by logical or ontological necessity must exist in all of them.

I’m not saying this applies to you. I AM NOT SAYING THIS APPLIES TO YOU. But whenever I hear or see someone say that, I can’t help but think of this: http://tinyurl.com/b84ul

I helped pull a guy out of under his car in a very rural area of West Virginia. He was talking to a neighbor, stepped out of the car and it started rolling backward. The road curved but the car went straight into a ditch/creek. The guy was half in his car trying to stop it when it rolled over on him.

The neighbor flagged down me and my buddy driving by. The neighbor got his tractor to pull the car off the guy. I was expecting to see smushed guy. Instead the car pushed him down into the water/mud. His body was intact, but my take was that he drowned due to the car pinned on top of him. Rough way to go.

I dislike Q. I think he’s not in this universe. I’m sure of it.

Besides....he killed himself after his drug addict daughter dies of an overdose and he accidentally let two planes collide over Albuquerque.

Oh wait....that was another series. Sorry

They will probably create an episode of something like a transporter failure, they can CGI him in.

He was in a great little romantic movie with Felicity Jones, too. Very sad, and a terrible way to go. Probably thought he had his car in park and got out to check the mail.
