A jury has found a former Vanderbilt football player guilty on all charges for his role in the rape of an unconscious woman.
Brandon Vandenburg was found guilty by the jury in Nashville of raping the woman who he was dating at the time in his Vanderbilt dorm room three years ago.
The jury took four hours to make their decision and delivered their verdict just after 8.20pm local time.
Vandenburg now faces a potential jail sentence of up to 25 years and was taken into custody as soon as the verdicts were read out while his parents began to cry.

Like a spoiled brat they’ll throw a fit, but go figure, they’ll likely as much quiet down if the universities don’t bend to their screeching.
Yeah, it was his girlfriend. Someone she trusted and go figure, he betrayed her in the worst possible way. I’m beginning to think that young men are becoming full blown sociopaths. This isn’t just some kind of isolated incident. There was that affluenza team and then the Yale rapist.
Unforgivable. I don’t believe that he’s going to go away for only twenty-five years. I sincerely believe cases like this deserve the death penalty. He will never be rehabilitated.
If he has any decency in his personality, he will kill himself and spare his family the shame of having a relative in prison.
Moronic thugs who have no intention of learning anything outside of their chosen sports should not be in school.
I agree -I see no academic merit in sporting scholarships.
I find it disgusting that the parents of the rapist would cry. They raised the little sociopath and at least they could be more stoic if only out of respect for the victim and her family’s pain.
I mean really, they should just try for the pros while they have their youth and are at peak strength. These athletes get pumped up after a game, adrenaline starts running, and then something horrible happens, often a rape. Or they go out rioting after a game. Or they just go out and cause havoc.
They aren’t accepted for their brains and they don’t choose subjects that will be of any practical use.
I believe that student athletes in college should be paid. Especially for basketball and football. Far too many kids are exploited and taken advantage of for their skills. And yes you can say that they get a free education, but the truth is that they were never qualified to be there in the first place.
That’s such a broad brush statement. Liberal like.
Ha! Gotta love the statist comments. ;)
Of course. It’s like banning guns (or taking away our 2nd A rights). Anything that upsets the people that don’t believe in our Rights, we must ban it.
I weep for our country because even “conservatives” want the same things as liberals, only the opposite of what the other wants. We’re screwed.
The article says that he was found guilty of orchestrating a gang rape. How many other’s were charged with this crime, which was obviously was a conspiracy if it was organized by this low life? Who were the other people that participated?
“Fraternities, and sororities are a tradition, university sports can be done without. Its not necessary to have a ton of athletic programs. A lot of the athletes dont even study serious subjects or study at all. They just get drunk, stoned, and in their spare time vandalize the immediate area. Too many of them are not college/university material.”
So you’re proposing banning something that is very meaningful to so many people? Because of some imbeciles?
Not all athletes are criminals or “pretend” students. I’m proud to say that the graduation rate of the 2015 University of Alabama football team was 4th in College Football. Are there bad apples? Sure, but don’t punish everyone for the crimes of a few.
Yay for you. You made a moronic statement.
Only athletes? Hmmm.
Where’s that broad brush pic?
“Men” “Affluenza” Ya got all the talking points. Credit to you. LMAO
Death Penalty? Seriously you’re either a troll or a moron.
