This story appears to be fake. A Local Albuquerque news station called the law enforcement agency mentioned, and they said this incident never happened.

Yep. You could be right.
If it were true, how would she have gotten hold of “the region’s gas pipeline plans”?
She would have had to obtain them from an insider, possibly an employee of the gas company, who is presumably a citizen.
Either there was no illegal middle eastern woman, and this incident was simply fabricated to push a rightist agenda, or she was some kind of courier, transporting the plans to jihadists who are also illegally in the US, thus have no footprint, and nigh impossible to track.
If the latter, perhaps she’s being water boarded for more info.
Which in turn would explain the denials of **her** existence.

Hard to tell which, especially when disinformation is flying from all directions.
We should avoid hoaxing like the plague; it does our side no good, IMO.
