Video footage from Thursday's concert in Edmonton shows the singer, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, falling on stage during his performance.
Earlier in the week he had cancelled shows in Moose Jaw and Calgary, saying he was ill.
The 68-year-old is one of rock's most successful recording artists, with hits including Bat Out of Hell.
He was performing another hit, I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That), when he dropped his microphone and fell to the floor, video footage showed.

Why did the stage collapse?
I guess he did.
Best wishes to Meat for a fast recovery. Hope he is alright.
Prayers for Mr. Loaf
Oh No, not Meat Loaf Again!
We rode with him on a Toys For Tots run years ago. Great guy! Prayers up. God bless him.
He did:
- Bat Out of Hell, and
- I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).
He wanted to do one more great hit, but couldn’t due to his health issue. That’s okay though.
Two out of three ain’t bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5hWWe-ts2s
You must have never seen him. If that fat f ck has made it to age 68, that's a miracle just short of Keith Richard.
Actually met him in a JFK restroom in the 90's. Had a short conversation about what he was he was doing as we occupied adjacent urinals. I know this is full of double entendres but it's the truth. Hope he recovers and keeps rocking.
wow a celebrity can’t even use the bathroom without being recognized.... I would hate that life
I think the only band to cancel more shows than him was Wasp. He used to suffer from vicious stage fright, I don’t know if he ever got over it.
Lose weight dude, diabetes sucks.
He did lose the weight at one time.
Yea, but he was cool about it. I think he said he was going to South America. Just a business.
“Why did the stage collapse?”
Due to lack of competent editing, lol.
I read his book, “Bat out of Hell.” It’s really quite great. Not crazy about his music but used to love RHPS... He’s an amazing guy.
