Immigration agents catch an abysmally small percentage of the illegal immigrants who arrived on visas but overstayed their welcome, authorities admitted to Congress Tuesday, describing a loophole that those around the globe are increasingly using to gain a foothold in the U.S.
At least 480,000 people overstayed their visas last year, adding to a backlog thats reached some 5 million total, members of Congress said. But immigration agents launched investigations into just 10,000 of them, or about 0.2 percent, and arrested fewer than 2,000, less than 0.04 percent, saying the others dont rise to the level of being priority targets.
We utilize our prioritization scheme along with the resources that we have, Craig Healy, assistant director for national security investigations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said as he struggled to defend the administrations meager efforts.

I’ve known this for a long time, and I want to see it changed. Illegals should be tracked down. When caught, they should be fingerprinted, DNA swabbed, charged for the costs of prosecuting them, and then deported and banned from ever returning to our country. I am not “anti-immigrant” as the left likes to conflate the issue. I am very strongly anti-illegal. I oppose all criminals who violate laws that belong on the books.
Sounds like a plan...
No, they shouldn’t be tracked down, that will waste billions of tax dollars to chase them down, detain them, holding deportation hearings, etc. We know who they are, have ID# and fingerprints, simply revert them to illegal status and make them (ALL illegals) ineligible for employment, housing, driver’s license, and ALL state and federal benefits. They will police themselves when they can’t work or get freebies. If they are in business for themselves and make a high income that does not require driving they may slip through the cracks, but those are the kind of people we want here.
There is no intention to enforce the law when no one is expected to break it.
Hardly ever caught? How about, hardly ever looked for?
How can you “catch” them if this criminal administration isn’t trying to do so? What a pathetic lawless joke these fools are.
Sad but true. Real story. We frequent a nice Mexican restaurant in town. The guys who work there ARE here legally. Most married to American girls and not going anywhere.
One of the waiters came to our table one evening to say good-bye. We asked him why? He told us his visa had run out 6 months earlier and he had to go home. We asked why he waited so long and his reply was......I wanted to be here through Christmas. Plus much as it will cost to come back...I may not return for 3 to 5 years.
so Mexico is the biggest problem (IMO) for illegal immigration making it impossible for most to do so :(
