I have laboured to think of any good reason for personnel to wear camo on a warship, but come up blank. Anybody have an idea?
It’s cool looking. That’s all I got on the subject.
to #11. re “wearing camo on a warship”. TO give the Prop people work?
THe same could apply to Obama and a Teleprompter. WHY? Electrical Workers Union people need the work since there are no other jobs around.
Bell bottoms are gay and so out of fashion now.............Would paisley be more appealing to you?

A lot of the crew spends more time on land than on the boat, so they don’t all wear camo all the time. Sort of the theme of the series, spreading a cure around the globe. Good show, IMHO.
In real life, it doesn’t. Sailors wore dungarees and a ballcap when I was in. Last few months I actually had to don a crackerjack outfit once. I’m sure there were billet descriptions where you were expected to wear camouflage and some just optional or overlooked.
Cause it makes them invisible to the fish.
I know a Navy Captain who worked with some of the higher staff at the Pentagon and I asked him about the camo.
He told me the thinking was the Navy wanted the sailors to be a little less conspicuous while on board the ship in foreign ports. The camo is supposed to make it harder for snipers to pick them off.
