"We're very careful with money." No, you weren't, and as a direct result of that, now it's gone. And instead of stating that you've learned not to be so naive as to leave $700 in a basket on the street and turn your back on it and you'll be more careful next time, you just keep saying that you're "sad."

1.3 million folks in Maine.
I've been there. VERY small. I was on a tour and on the Sunday morning I asked about the Catholic Churches and their services.
The city we were in had ONE Catholic Church and there was ONE service: 11:00 A.M. THAT was it. Kind of surprised me because I am used to traveling around Europe and there are churches EVERYwhere. Broadened MY horizons, about my own country.

Wherever I travel I have an around-the-neck, tucked-into-the-blouse/shirt money (and, if necessary, passport) carrier. I've never been robbed, purse-snatched or pickpocketed.
Found the carrier in Europe. Great stuff.
I've been all over the world except Australia, South America and the Antarctic.

A woman working at the recycling bins nearby told him a young man grabbed the basket and headed north around the back of Press Bay Alley, but didn't feel it necessary to tell him at the time it happened...

2. I know. We lived in the middle east (KSA) in the 1980's for five l-o-n-g years. But, we got what we wanted out of it: lots of money. Set us up very well. No federal income tax on the first $80,000.00 made over there for Americans working for Saudi ARAMCO.
