The guard was polite but unyielding. Im sorry; you cant go any further.
At which point, Muhammad joined us.
The guard repeated what hed just said. Mr. Ali; this man and this woman dont have security clearance. Im sure you understand how these things work. They simply cant go any further.
And Muhammad was understanding -- If they dont go, I aint going.

His name change is interesting. It was a family name which was taken from an abolitionist who had freed his own slaves. His father had the same name. Then Cassius changed it to the name of a man who was a slave owner and slave trader when he took the name Muhammed. That was the work of a fool.
Ali debased our culture and made it popular to be an arrogant Clymer. He made Islam more acceptable in certain quarters. He did a lot of damage to the black community with these acts. And he was a coward. He would fight for his own self-interest, but not for the freedom of others. Every single punch he threw and every victory he had in the ring was as nothing compared to the deeds of those who went and fought in his place.
It is a sign of a sick culture that he is so lionized. And he played a major role in making that culture sick.
Didn’t he die last night? I’m already smiling about that.
Yeah yeah. Didn’t read the article, did you.
Well personally i’m not a grave dancer, but if thats your thing... go right ahead.
Waiting for Jane Fonda.
Excellent post.
Great story. I’ll remember it.
I read the article.
My takeaway is that is this world, some people are more important than other people. The rules apply to people like me, but other people are too important to pay attention to the rules. I mean: they know what the rules are; but they also know that they are so important that the rules will be bent for them.
I guess some people admire a two-tier banana republic type of existence. Lord knows this country goes in that direction more and more each day.
I disagree with you on so many levels, but I respect your opinion.
He was firm in his devotion to Islam, but did not push it in your face. He was kind to his enemies outside the ring, and ferocious inside the ring. I never saw him to be an awful man, rather a funny, and caring father, a devoted friend, and a caring mentor to aspiring boxers.
He was audacious when it furthered his career, but a devoted friend to all.
A true ambassador. I often wished that this Affliction had not befell him, but he carried it with grace. Perhaps in defeat he showed how truly great he was.
BJ: What's she look like?
Ali: She's kinda hot.
BJ: Well, damn, Muhammad, bring her on in!
Of course some people are more important than other people. Fair or not, thats the way the world works. Ali had power, and in this instance used it to help someone out. You’re denying you would do the same if you could? You’d just sit there and meekly take what some bureaucrat was dishing out?
Some people follow the rules no matter what they are or how stupid they are, and some people push the envelope. The ones who push the envelope change the world.
If we followed your way of thinking we’d still be an English colony putting up with what the Queen was telling us to do.
Oh, don’t be so hard on the Champ. After the Israelis won the Six Day War in 1967, Cassius Clay briefly changed his name from Muhammad Ali to Morris Steinberg.
(heard that joke at the time, btw)
;^)
I didn’t spell it out, but part of my ire is base don the “security clearance” aspect of the Ali incident.
“Mr. Ali, we can’t let those people in, because they don’t have security clearances.”
“Is that important?”
“Not really — go on in.”
“Mrs. Clinton, you’ve sent and received top secret emails through non-secure channels which is a serious violation and could result in significant jail time.”
“Are you going to do anything about it?”
“Not really — enjoy your presidential campaign.”
Yeah right. Because letting someone who has gotten checked for weapons, etc., yet hasn’t undergone the anal probe of a background check shake the Presidents hand is the same as putting classified documents on an unprotected server.
Oh yes, those sound EXACTLY the same.
You’re equating kidnapping with a speeding ticket.
I’m saying rules matter.
If I get upset about Hillary not following security regulations, then I have to get upset about security regulations not being followed with Ali.
To split hairs and make distinctions — “Well, in THIS case I guess we can just overlook a few things ...” is what Clinton and Obama depend upon. That world view works beautifully for them.
I want everyone equal before the law and I want the rules enforced. Sorry you think rules are only for the little people.
You’re right. This is not a communist nation, we are not all 100% equal in the eyes of all things, some people get better treatment than others. That’s actually a good thing, because the ONLY way for it not to work that way is under pure Marxism.
The Boston Tea Partiers broke the rules
The founding fathers broke the rules
Patton broke the rules
and on and on and on.
If we followed every rule every time without question... well how boring would the world be.
You had to be there. It goes deep with some of us, but not as deep as Jane Fonda.
