Just two weeks after first airing and one week after director Stephanie Soechtig and executive producer/narrator Katie Couric were caught in a scandal where Soechtig replaced the answer to a question with footage shot at a different time, the streaming media channel EPIX has pulled their original film.

Fire Katie—the dancing liar clown.
The documentary is still up on the epix website if you do a search for it.
And, who could forget Time magazine’s suicide & gun ownership edition ?
I had Epix, but lowered my package that had it. Oh well. Bye.
Audi.
Big Explosion.
Not Audi, it was full-size GM pickup trucks -

My mistake - far too much network fraud.
It was CBS (60 Minutes) “exposing” the “Sudden Acceleration” of Audis and caused a heavy PR loss for the carmaker...until CBS was exposed for their shenanigans.
“In November 1986, the TV news magazine ran a segment highlighting what it claimed were unintended acceleration issues with the Audi 5000. While they ran interviews with people who blamed their car crashes on the Audi, they also showed footage of the car dangerously blasting off like a missile. What they didn’t tell their viewers was that the car was doctored; someone drilled a hole into the transmission and pumped air into it, causing it to accelerate. It’s a great visual for TV. Too bad it wasn’t true.”
After the segment ran, Audi was subjected to numerous lawsuits and its U.S. sales tanked hard. It would take the company years to recover from the incident, even though numerous studies found that the real problem was essentially driver error.
There have been several anti-gun covers on TIME. The first I remember back in 1968.
I believe that was CBS.
Why anyone trusts NBC after an obvious pattern of not mere disregard for the truth but rather outright hostility to it is mind boggling to me.
When do the media man up and pull Katie Couric?
McDonald’s is hiring.
More’s the pity. TIME was once the sweet spot of journalism, like CBS once was.
Lord...what sad developments.
The epitome of a cunning stunt.
