One lawmaker has introduced legislation that would designate the meat, egg and cheese combination as the official state sandwich. But he concedes that a final decision on which meat name is used in the measure will have to be negotiated.

My mother always called it Pork Roll.
It’s a NJ lawmaker. Trenton doesn’t waste a single opportunity to waste public funds. (Even the ARC rail tunnel cancellation was just an excuse to redirect/redistribute at certain levels.)
Pork roll is the appropriate name.
Taylor is the brand name, and it’s not “ham”...
Gov. Chris Christie, a northern New Jersey native and resident, declared this week that Taylor ham is the correct answer and joked he may issue an executive order.
The Taylor ham or pork roll debate drew national attention this month when President Barack Obama gave the commencement address at Rutgers University. Obama jokingly told the crowd that he had come to New Jersey to settle the dispute. But he eventually decided the best position was to stay neutral.

Must be a NJ thing and Fresh Market is catering to former NJ residents, because I’ve never heard of either one here in NC, where Fresh Market is headquartered.
Northern Jersey here. Taylor Ham -— altho being originally from Mass, I say Tayla Ham”.
I read that they call it Jersey Spam in Mass.

My husband’s from Central Jersey. He says Taylor is a brand of pork roll. But there are other brands, so some restaurants will distinguish that it is Taylor pork roll by calling it ‘Taylor ham’.
But....it’s pork roll!

When we were growing up my Uncle (from PA) always called it Taylor Ham, however, so it’s gone by both names my whole life.

Pork roll is the correct term, as is “hoagie” for the elongated sandwich, and “soda” for fizzy soft drinks.
