Beijing will soon be able to launch nuclear missiles from the sea. And that's going to make it harder to deter any future Chinese aggression.

China's about to join an exclusive club for nuclear powers. After decades of development, 2016 could be the year the Chinese navy finally sends its ballistic-missile submarines-"SSBN" is the Pentagons designation-to sea for the first time for operational patrols with live, nuclear-tipped rockets.

The US will still have to send out surveillance patrols to shadow the ChiCom subs and record their patrol routes. With the goal being that we know where their subs are most likely to be found. I read several years ago that “by the numbers” the Russia missile subs were most likely to be under the polar ice in the Bering sea or just to the east of Greenland sea ice.
The Mohammedan totalitarian ideology is not worse than the Marxist totalitarian ideology.
The Cold War was not a 'fantasy'.
The Peoples' Republic of China is not our friend. Neither is the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea, or the Islamic Republic of Iran. I mention those three because they are in cahoots with each other against us.
Murderous totalitarian thugs with nuclear weapons are all bad, regardless of what totalitarian ideology they use.
Although you have said nothing that can be labeled “untrue”, I think it’s worth mentioning that China has shown (at least so far) very little propensity towards expansionism outside it’s own coastal areas (and of course it is interested in Taiwan).
Also, it is worth mentioning that the difference between communism inside China and communism inside North Korea is the difference between night and day (though yes, they are both evil).
In the old days, the Soviet Union was definitely expansionist, supporting communist expansion all over the globe.
I don’t see China doing that, though it is, of course, promoting its own economic interests where possible, as in Africa.
Also, of course China is evil in Tibet.
But compare all of that to the expansionism of Islam, and it is Islam that I worry about right now, not China.
Historical note: China stopped the advance of Islam in a great battle in the 10th century, stopped it dead in its tracks as it expanded east.
Viet Nam and the Philippines would probably view them a little differently. Likewise Japan and South Korea. An SSBN is not a tool for waging a local, coastal war. I think your view of China is dangerously optimistic. Yes, Mohammedanism is a global threat. Communism (in its myriad guises) is no less of a global threat.
I do agree with everything you say. I am not going to waste any more words “defending” China. Communism is communism and historically they are absolutely the worst ever in history.
I wish more people knew the details of the Great Leap Forward.

Not if the Type 94's are any indication There is no streamlining in that hull design. It's likely to be noisier than all get out and not at all hard to track when compared with the SSBMs from other countries.
I would like to see someone take up where he left off. Mohammedanism is proving to be a great government (and government-like) perpetrator of mass murder.
Not familiar. Thanks for the reference. I will read it.
This is significant... Loud submarines are sunk submarines...
The thing about sinking a Chinese submarine is that an hour later you feel like sinking a Chinese submarine all over again.
This is a public forum that information you gave is not really appropriate for this forum.
That will take some time ...

Yes I see... Whoever wrote this article he had a too vivid fantasy.
Security through obscurity is no security at all. Stuff like that is not really a secret.
Ok Hillary.
And how much of it was funded with the money they made from these stupid free trade deals?
If a nation has the will to sink them yes. A small craft approaching a docked Navy ship refueling in Yemen was also visible and it's exact location known. It's not so much a sub but what any sub has onboard in missile capabilities. I doubt once missiles are launched toward China's intended targets that China could care less if the Sub and crew survives. Any sub in their hands is dangerous in that respect.
It’s good enough that they know we can take them out preemptively.
