Queen Rihanna wants to help you work, work, work, work, work towards your college degree: On Monday, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter announced that she's officially launching a global scholarship program through her nonprofit, the Clara Lionel Foundation, to help students pay for college.

According to its website, the program will assist citizens or natives of Brazil, Barbados, Cuba, Haiti, Grenada, Guyana, and Jamaica in pursuing higher education in the United States. USA Today reports that scholarship grants will range from $5,000 to $50,000; may be renewed up to three years; and will be based on student need. There is no set number of grants, but the program hopes to help as many current and incoming college students as possible.

I’ll bet she didn’t come up with this thing all by her ‘superself’.

Does she want them to work or is she handing the money out based on need?

Her money...

She can help who she wants.

As long as it's not some Clinton like slush fund, I'm all for it.

If she has the money and this is her passion, I think it's great.

Have the FEDS charged her with DISCRIMINATION yet?? If not, WHY?? This looks to me like a BLATANT VIOLATION of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 10 years in prison and a 100% Civil Asset forfeiture is in order here.

Good for her on using her own money for it. I’m just surprised she isn’t funding attendance at the student’s local institutions rather than bringing them to the US. She could help a lot more people and help fund institutions in those countries.

Same here, good on her.

I hope this sets an example to some of her contemporaries in the industry — we need more philanthropy from the major artists.

I hope it doesn’t turn into some kind of shitty laundering scheme like Wycliffe Jean’s dirty work in Haiti. Some people take advantage of the poorest of the poor...

Doesn’t she know that success is just a matter of luck?

Will Black Lives Matter start demonstrating this? Not one tiny scholarship for American blacks!

I applaud her doing this rather than just talking and demanding OPM like miserly hypocrites like George Clooney and Arec Barwin.

However I think she should spend some money on bodyguards to keep Chris Brown away.

Ever been to those countries???

OPPORTUNITY is in limited supply there, as opposed to here.

Everyones wealth is limited. She can only help so many people in this world, so she chooses who she wants to help.

She was born and raised in Barbados and made it good. So she seems to want to help others back home. I say "Good On Her".

Likewise, YOU get to choose who YOU want to help.

I don’t deny her the right to help whoever she wants.

I was only observing what she has done, or not done. :)

Liberty is indeed key.
