Three Suffolk County teens were arrested after allegedly assaulting a 60-year-old man earlier this week.
According to police, one teen approached the victim while he was walking along Deer Park Avenue at around 12:55 p.m on May 4. Police said the suspect then punched the victim in the face, causing the man to fall to the ground, unconscious.
The suspect then fled the scene with two other teens who were in a car nearby. The victim was left on the side of the road.

Sitrep prevents this. If one adheres to the Tueller 21-foot rule one can almost always avoid being blindsided.
If you are a straight, male, white taxpayer...you HAVE no rights.
Get with the program!
Not unless you want to go to jail...
Actually, the perps are total cowards. They prey on old, white people who are defenseless.
You never see them pulling this crap on young, able-bodied males. They have to have you outnumbered, out gunned, or at another disadvantage to engage.
If this is “gang initiation”, what does it prove? That a young, strapping, black guy can knock out a white geriatric? Most of the victims are very old, a 12 year old could knock most of them out.
Cowards.
Probably not. Depends on whether or not shooting him is necessary to stop the assault. I don't know about Deer Park, but usually you can only use deadly force to help another if the victim is in danger of death or serious bodily injury. Also, there are several other things that need to be present before you can use deadly force, and those things vary from place to place.
Shooting him after he knocked the guy down and was leaving would probably get him charged with manslaughter at least, because by that time he was no longer attacking, he was leaving. You can't just execute the perp. Legally, anyway. I guess it depends on whether or not it winds up on video.
Not if they were in fact part of the MS-13 gang. Like you I could possibly assume this might have been a rite of passage or some other nonsense to gain street cred with the gang.
WAKE UP !!! They do it for FUN!!!
The NJ government has done a nice job of chasing our industry away as well; this is the post-industrialization “rust-belt”, with the descendants of those industrial workers running amuck.
Trump’s appeal is that people are desperately hoping to return us to those days; I don’t know whether or not he can deliver, but he seems determined to try. This transition of industry/commerce from the overtaxed, over-regulated West to the Third World is simply happening too quickly...
In South America, pestiferous, drug addled (mostly huffing) young street criminals have long been “disappeared” by private security guards, who are often off duty police or ex-police.
This is because they are a major nuisance to small businesses, and there is no effective juvenile criminal system. So the businessmen take up a collection to pay for reducing the number of the ‘street orphans’.
Some evening, maybe 10-20 of them are rounded up and taken to the jungle for disposal. They are rarely abused, just killed and buried.
. If it is members of a certain group or groups, I put my hand in my pocket and ...,
Yep this old dog will hunt too. I don’t wear a nice coat anymore. Might get holes in the pocket.
Watch what you call very old. I am as good once as I ever was.
Usually the victims are black. Hard to tell in this case.
Good work. Two voices talking over each other and no video.
The rite of passage in this fashion is meant to be fun for them. In the mid nineties, there was a common initiation just like this going on. It had to do with high beams on cars. The would-be initiates would drive around with their high beams on. When an oncoming car would flash their high beams to signal they had their high beams on, the initiates would proceed to chase that car down. People were killed in this. This also was done in the name of fun. Initiations for gangs like this have gone on for decades.
Oh and you might want to wake up and read the part where I state “I possibly could assume”.
I have a problem with those killings
I lived in Rio Sau Paulo and Belo some in the 80s
And I helped feed some of those gaminas
Ice cream.....my wife’s idea.....100s of them
My ex is a Carioca as are my girls even though they live in Nashvegas with me
What happened in Rio back then with death squads murdering problem street children by the 100s to quell street crime was inexcusable
Period
And it was done by dirty cops some more of whom I’d hired
My ex father in law was a political boss and a bicho gangster...big time...he and I were close but he and others told the killers they better find another way quick besides wholesale murder of kids as young as 5....
And he was hard...killed many a man and held captive in the dirty war period by the Montonero.....deliberate burn scars all over him
He would sure kill you if you wanted to play hardball and yes we all recognized street crime was an issue but exterminating orphaned children was just wrong
Man I recall one pic of their bound dirty little bodies with bullet holes in their heads or little backs....how dirty their feet were and skin and bones and one tiny little dead kid where the older boy was trying to shield him from the executioners ...their little brains splattered everywhere and dozens of bodies left by the track in a dirty industrial sector of old Rio
I’ve boys from 8-16 ....just spent the weekend in Mississipi with the youngest and my oldest daughter ...who is Carioca by blood as I said....
He’s a joy to all of us.....a real gift at my old age
And way to young to be summarily executed for anything
I agree it is inexcusable. Culturally, there is plenty of blame to go around, including the Catholic church. There is a strong need for 200 years of social advance to be made. A situation where children are recklessly made, then abandoned, is just revolting.
