Animal rights activists circulated photos of the husband and wife team behind Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre eating a burger and keeping freezer full of beef
The California-based husband and wife founders of celebrity-endorsed vegan restaurant group Cafe Gratitude say they have received death threats after it was revealed last week that they are raising, slaughtering and eating animals on their farm north of San Francisco.
Matthew and Terces Engelhart, both in their sixties, who opened the first Cafe Gratitude in 2004 and whose celebrity followers have included Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé and Sacha Baron Cohen, countered the firestorm of criticism with a defense of the regenerative agriculture methods they now use on their Be Love Farm in Vacaville, calling it a personal choice made in the privacy of their home.

I ate at Cafe Gratitude for a year, as my company was a block away on 21st.
Loved the food.
Ate the one in L.A. and Santa Monica as well.
Great concept and they really help women rebuild their lives.
“...insisting that everyone must conform to their obsession, is no different than any other whether it be Nazis, Communists, or shriek in your face feminists.”
*******
You forgot the screaming angry men with beards and towels on their heads.
The real problem was that the restaurant owners were found to be raising their own animals and harvesting and butchering them. I don’t see why they don’t just go to the supermarket and buy the meat in styrofoam packages where no animals are killed like the rest of us...

What? What do you mean?
FMCDH(BITS)
Slightly OT, but I LOVE your tagline!! I can just hear Bea Arthur ... :-) ROFLMAO
Imagine the mentality of a person who issues death threats - DEATH THREATS - to someone who runs an X restaurant but eats Y. Who has that much free time or caring to be concerned over something like that?
Get a life, people.
Why do they always look like over aged hippies?
I have a number of Indian (from the subcontinent that is)
