I'll keep this vanity short ... Mods: please feel free to pull it if it's inappropriate.
Why have so many here on FR turned on Ted Cruz in such a vicious way?
We cheered when we first heard about Ted taking on the establishment in TX to win the primary in the race to fill Kay Bailey Hutchison's vacated Senate seat, in a bad year for the GOP
We cheered again when Ted exhorted us to 'Stand With Rand' when he offered public support for Rand Paul's filibuster over the NDAA
Once more, we cheered when he stood on the Senate floor and urged his colleagues to join him and use the power of the purse to kill Obamacare
We nodded our collective heads in approval when he openly and correctly called Mitch McConnell a liar
And we jumped for joy when he became the first GOPer to announce a presidential run!
So ... what happened? Yes, Trump announced. But at first, not too many people took him seriously. For the longest time, there seemed to be an unspoken pact between Trump and Cruz, where they occasionally said nice things about each other while bashing the other candidates.
But ever since the voting began and Trump turned on Cruz (starting with the Ben Carson imbroglio in Iowa), a large contingent of FReepers did the same and seem to be echoing RINOs like John Boehner and Peter King in their absolute abhorrence of Cruz.
Yes, we need to choose sides, but for God's sake, can't we send that kind of vitriol in the direction that it belongs, ie. Hildabeast and the 'Rat Party, and knock off the circular firing squad?
Cruz: The more I see, the less I like.
Finally, we agree! Welcome aboard the Trump Train!
I’d agree with the circular firing squad thing if it were a Walker vs Santorum, or something. The problem is we have two kinda creepy liars left. One has fought for Constitutional causes, one has not cared to fight for anything except real estate and $$ until now.
I’m going to vote for Cruz in the primary. But it’s going to be real hard to pull the lever for this in the fall:

I held my nose and voted for Cruz in the Texas primary, but that was the last straw for me as well.
I'll never vote for him again.
Lyin’ Ted is very apt. We turned on him when he joined BLM to stiffle free speech. We turned on him when he joined with the establishment to “pick up delegates” in voterless elections. We turned on him when he picked the ex-H1B CEO mama as his running mate. We turned on him when he said that he wouldn’t support Trump if Trump won. We turned on him when it was obvious that its’ over, except to him. We turned on him when he lied about Ben Carson. We turned on him when he allowed the 2 resident lunatics: Markhole and Stabby to join his campaign and alienate people. We turned on him when he called Trump supporters low information voters. ...
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down:for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan:for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”
Point? Nothing has changed in the 2000 years since Jesus was offered all the kingdoms on earth.
Trump is as much a Christian as Hillary... they both share the same father. It doesn’t matter which one becomes POTUS. The chance we had to restore America in the eyes of God is being squandered by poisoning the minds of those who would have supported Cruz.
And the god of this world laughs as Godless America circles the drain.
I’m seeing a lot of posts like yours today and forgive me if I’m not tuned in to the anti-Cruz persecution that’s supposedly going on. Where are you seeing it?
When Ted Cruz blamed Donald Trump that started eroding my support of Ted Cruz.
TPP was a huge issue
I think from that point we had the Sea Island Meeting which Ted seem to accept that it , when we know it was the money men of the Democratic Party and consultants like Karl Rove, and Politicians. Little by little including I don't think he is a Natural Born Citizen.
He allowed the theft of Utah and Wisconsin. The people who Ted allowed him to used him with # Never Trump , he would have gotten a lot of support had he said the goal is #NeverHillary than a snake led by Mitt Romney or even told Mitt I want no part of Mitt his campaign would have been fine.
Colorado may have been the final straw. He didn't denounce it but laughed at stealing it.
I liked him at first, and was outraged that he was the subject of so much nasty press. I figured that anyone establishment types were so eager to stop had to have done a few things right.
Slowly, I got to know more about him, and contrary to my early opinion, he did not improve with wear.
It looks to me as though the only thing preventing him from being just like the rest of the establishment is that even the establishment has standards!
I’ve always felt nothing good comes from bashing Cruz or his supporters.
We need more like him in Congress, he fights
Similar thing for me. I was for either Cruz or Trump until the Chicago riots.
Agreed ... that was a bad move. And accusing Trump of 'sexism' when he made the factual comment that Hillary played the gender card was not that great either.
There's enough blame on both sides for the vitriol. Both camps need to tone it down and turn their rhetorical guns towards the 'Rats.
Yup. I think that one did it for a whole lot of people.
I was accused of being a "Cruzbot" for exposing one of the anti-Cruz postings as "tabloid trash" (Don't search for it, the admins agreed and removed the article). Never mind that a quick search of my previous posts would show that I also defended Trump against false claims.
But I'm not going for that "my way or the highway" stuff. Whoever wins has my vote in November.
Thank you for such a sane post. The ugliness has caused many long term Freepers who are tea party conservative to drop out of FR. The vile posts about Ted Cruz are wrong headed and IF one would read his book and go meet him in person, they’d change their hard hearts....maybe not to vote for him but forgive him for being human. He’s NOT a bad man and has not made perfect choices that I would although I have not endured the campaign trail daily. I do want a Christian back in the White House and voted for him in TX for Senator and for Pres. I will vote for Trump if he’s on the ticket against Clinton/Sanders.
....good thing....it keeps me off FR about 2 hours a day doing constructive things!
God Bless America!!!
Good post......Cruz shows no respect for our political system.
His contempt for the intelligence of voters, acting as if they can't possibly know what he's up to.....has triggered a visceral dislike for the man.
There's the tell.
It's always somewhere, they can't help it. You just have to look carefully.
I believe Trump when he says he can still win without a unified party. However, if the Cruz/Stop Trump tag team is successful, Trump supporters would feel disenfranchised, meaning a Clinton landslide.
A political party can't ignore the will of a majority of it's actual voters (in this case likely to be north of 11 million) and expect to be successful. Not happening.
Regardless of how one feels, this is the reality. Actual elections still do matter.
If Cruz supporters truly want to accomplish something positive, recognize the likely nominee and work at the convention to enact a Conservative party platform.
