This is truly a rare treat. Two Certified Guitar Players in the same room is rare enough, but having them play a duet is as rare an event as a Solar Eclipse - at night. Chet Atkins gave the honor to only 4 other guitar players before his death. Tommy Emmanuel, John Knowles, Jerry Reed and Steve Wariner. This is a cover of the Bee Gees song How Deep is Your Love, which is one of the few "disco" pieces that were worth remembering. I hope you enjoy this video.

Hey guys, last night I posted a Sandra Bae cover and got a rather tepid response. Maybe it was because of all the election coverage. Tonight it is a rare treat as we have Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles playing together. If you read the history of Chet Atkins’ designation of 4 other guitar players to be considered “Certified Guitar Players” you will see what a rare thing it would be for 2 of them to play together.
This is a cover of How Deep Is Your Love, which was a pretty funky disco song in it’s time. These guys make it a flowing acoustic guitar masterpiece. Talent on loan from God.

I got to sit in the room while Tommy and Chet practiced for a Saturday night performance at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society. There were about a dozen in the room watching these guitar players put together their show. No way has my guitar playing been even 1% of either of these two men. It was quite an honor that I won’t forget.

That is a moment you would want to relive a few times. Having the two greatest living guitar players in one room and being there would be unforgettable. Chet was Tommy’s Idol and in the end Chet was a huge fan of Tommy.

Leo Kottke has always been a favorite of mine as well..... my favorite. Tempo change at 5:30 mark.
I was privileged to see Tommy Emmanuel perform in Scottsdale two weeks after 9/11. His concert was the first light at the end of a dark tunnel.
