How will the tariff affect your job? I’d think that it will encourage Ford to build vehicles that are sold in the US to be built in the US. If they go to Mexico, the tariffs will take the extra profits Ford would’ve amassed from the move.

It works like this: the federal government artificially (and usually arbitrarily) increases the price of F-150’s. Fewer F-150’s are sold, requiring fewer parts that my company produces. Layoff notice comes next.

Actually, that is not true and far from it. It assumes the trucks will be sold in the USA which is not true

Mexico is already a major exporter of vehicles. Other companies are operating there to produce cars for sale all over the world. Ford is merely following the trend. Mexico is the new michigan and may presently exceed what Michigan did

With the United Auto Workers albatross around their neck, ford can’r produce trucks here for export...... too expensive. In addition to the increase in sales from the expansion into export markets, the major bernefit is losing the UAW.

The death of the UAW is one of the best things that can happen to America
