It's one of the biggest television cliffhangers since John Ross 'JR' Ewing was shot all those years ago on Dallas.
Millions of viewers are less than 24 hours away from finally learning whether Jon Snow is really dead when Game of Thrones returns to our screens.
In a simultaneous broadcast with the US, the hit show will air on Sky Atlantic at 2am before being repeated tomorrow for primetime viewers at 9pm.
The series is no stranger to killing off its leads, with Sean Bean's Ned Stark beheaded at the end of the very first season.

SPOILER ALERT
Here is the spoiler synopsis that was on Reddit yesterday. Apparently the program was available on mts.ca yesterday already. I assume mts.ca is some sort of Canadian internet/TV provider.
I did not write the following and I have not seen the program.
Begin paste:
Here is the synopsis and be warned major spoilers ahead. Mind the grammar I’m tired and I wrote this on my phone.
It starts with the camera zooming in on castle black you hear ghost howling the camera zooms in on jon snow davos is alerted along with some other men of the nights watch. They take jons body up to a room. The rest of the nights has a meeting alliser thorne admits he does it and olly stands there like a smug shit. The scene goes back to davos and the nights watch that were allied with jon. Dolrous edd goes to alert the wildlings. Next scene is ramsay standing over myranda saying he will get revenge. Roose congratulates him for defeating stannis asking if he knew who struck the blow that killed stannis. Roose then says they need their northern allies but won’t have them without Sansa. Ramsay tells Roose that he has his best hounds and men on the trail. The next scene is sansa and theon running through the forest they cross the river then hide in a stump, the hounds quickly catch up but brienne and pod come to save the day. Next scene is jaime arriving to kings landing. Cersei notices myrcella is dead. Jaime and cersei say they will get revenge and cersei talks about her prophecy. Next is margaery asking about her brother but the high sparrow tells her nothing and she kinda admits her brother was sleeping with men. Next scene is in dorne, doran reads a letter saying myrcella was killed, ellaria kills him and goes on a spiel about him being weak. Next is the sand snakes killing trystane. Then its varys and tyrion walking through meereen then they see their ships burning. Jorah and Daario find Dany’s ring. Next is Dany walking with the Dothraki, she talks to the khal and says who she is, he tells her they are going to take her to vaes dothrak. Next is Arya begging in the alleys the Waif talks to her and beats her with a stick. Next scene is alliser trying to bargain with Davos. Davos then talks to the men of the nights watch saying they will need Melisandres help. The final scene is Melisandre stripping.
I think Jon is coming back.
“Kojak” never had a season finale
After a long addiction to the books I stopped reading them in disgust over the obvious pleasure the author takes in building up the heroic characters and the murdering them. I concluded that Martin, a gifted writer, is also a fat and sweaty old sadist simmering in joy over the angst and grief he causes his readers. That, and I found out the old bastard is hard left wing (vocally in favor of the PC policies of the Hugo Award committee) and decided to stop sending money his way.
It's part of the story! Without Ned's death a multitude of events would have never even have taken place.
Didn't Joseph Curtis even bother to read the books? He looks like an idiot making such an inane comment.
It was all a dream.
Jon Snow is dead. I predict he will remain dead for at least 2 episodes. Like Samuel Tarley said, “Don’t worry about Jon Snow, he always comes back.”
Awwww. I love Jon and Sam. Cant’ wait. I love all the characters, even the mean ones. Cersei is mean as a snake.
Sure -- GRRM could kill off Jon, and Dany, and Tryion, and admit that 75 percent of the first five books was just misdirection. If he really wanted to, he could then have Wonder Woman step out of a trans-dimensional time warp controlled by Egon Spengler. Forming an alliance with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Wonder Woman harnesses the dragons, as it is simultaneously discovered the marshmallows are even more effective than dragonglass against White Walkers. The threat averted, Peter Venkman assumes the Iron Throne.
But assuming GRRM doesn't want to turn the first five books into a monumental waste of time and a joke against his readers, he has written himself into an endgame that needs to revolve around a rather limited number of characters. It's awfully late to be introducing a new major player. That would be deus ex machina stuff. Poor craftsmanship. The big three don't all have to survive to the very end, but it's much too early to waste them now.
Well, that clears that up.
The introduction of Young Griff was enough, IMO.
I think the season premier will show Jon Snow’s body. If he is to be resurrected (and I think he will be), I think it will probably happen a later episode (perhaps as early as episode 2 or 3).
Yeah, she stripped. But it's what happened AFTER she stripped! OH MY EYES!
Hey, I just posted what the guy wrote! I saw the episode and that was a surprise. It was really to show the following I suspect:
1) she wasn’t kidding when she said she had been fighting longer than the people around her (she’s quite old).
2) how dispirited she is that Stannis is dead.
(Maybe she gives her life in episode 2 or 3 to bring back Jon Snow just like Beric Dondarrion did for Catelyn Stark/Lady Stoneheart in the books?)
LOL!!
I still cringe thinking of that scene!
I think you might be right about the Red Witch. She might resurrect Jon, knowing that this would be her end.
