“...its not just Mark Levin, its Rush, and so many others who I thought were on the side of a revolution. Yet when it really happens, when the people are able to ignore the mainstream media and defy the establishment, they bail. Blows my mind.”

BINGO!

I’ve been searching for just the right words to express that idea, and you said it perfectly.

For all their endless bluster and bloviating on the subject of American ideals and liberty, when the crap finally hits the fan, the big talkers turn out to be all talk, nothing more.

It’s as if this is just an exercise in theoretical politics to these guys. They seem not to notice there’s actual history moving beneath their feet, and that they’re sitting in their ivory towers pontificating on a reality they’re totally disconnected from.

They’ve become the very thing they’ve railed against for so many years.

Sadly, Rush and Mark seem to prefer their party invitations over patriots.

Reading someones book that they wrote about themselves is not what I call digging. I would call it drinking their Kool-aid. I watch Trumps posturing and how he tries to influence opinion. He is now moving to the left as with his comments that someone should be able to use whichever bathroom they want. I think he has an authoritarian streak as wide as most leftists.

“Reading someones book that they wrote about themselves is not what I call digging. I would call it drinking their Kool-aid.”

So you admit that you don’t know the first thing about Trump’s books, but have formed an opinion anyway.

And here I thought being a conservative meant being intellectually honest. Silly me.

I put more stock in what Trump does than what he wrote about himself. I have read some of “The Art of the Deal”, but was not very impressed.

“I put more stock in what Trump does than what he wrote about himself.”

That you continue to insist that Trump’s books are “about himself”, proves that you have near zero familiarity with their contents.

Do yourself a favor and read the Amazon.com reviews for ‘Time To Get Tough’. His prescriptions for America in that book are a mirror image of what he’s advocating in this election. Heck, just watch some YouTube videos of Trump from the late 80s, and you’ll hear much the same things as he’s saying now.

You can hold onto your contention that he’s a big fat lib if you want, but understand that you’re choosing to believe things about the man that aren’t true.

As far as what he’s done in life, you’d have to be completely dishonest to begrudge the man his due for having created tens of thousands of jobs, and many billions of dollars in real economic activity. Unlike the politicians running for the office, he’s actually earned his keep in this world, and not simply fed at the public trough his whole life.

Among all the candidates, on either side, Trump is the only one who has the requisite executive experience and developed skills to be the Commander in Chief on day one.

I hate liver, too. Which is sad, because I’m very attracted to pate, in theory...

I think there’s a genetic component to finding liver repulsive. I’ve tried to eat it and it tastes like rusty metal to me (yes I do know what that tastes like, recall it well from childhood). I can handle some varieties of paté but the liver taste isn’t nearly as pronounced. Can’t stand anchovies either, which taste rotten to me.

Anchovies work in a lot of recipes to lend a certain richness that doesn’t even taste like anchovy; but I couldn’t eat them alone, or on pizza.

There are ‘country’ pate recipes that have little or no liver; I had one once at the National Gallery, and really liked it; but have never tried making it. Future project.

What’s the well-known chicken dish with anchovy paste in the sauce, Chicken Kiev? I’ve enjoyed that, but there’s no detectable anchovy flavor.

I’m not aware of them being used in Chicken Kiev, but they’re in a lot of Italian sauces. This recipe from the NYT seems to have been pretty popular a while back:

There’s some well-known chicken dish that has anchovies in it, because I recall being surprised that I liked it. Chicken Cacciatore maybe?

Oh,Yes. Some cacciatore recipes use anchovies. And of course puttanesca sauce, but I don’t think that’s normally used with chicken.
