WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A 16-year-old student has died after she was assaulted by several other students inside a high school bathroom in Wilmington, Delaware.
It happened at the Howard High School of Technology in the 400 block of East 12th Street on Thursday morning.
At a vigil Thursday night, friends and classmates identified the girl as Amy Joyner, a sophomore. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine her exact cause of death.
No charges have been announced. Two girls and several witnesses are at the Wilmington Police Department being interviewed by detectives.
Mayor Dennis Williams had to take a moment to compose himself while speaking at a news conference, held a short time after learning the student had passed away.
"I'm so upset that the young lady lost her life today. Things like this shouldn't happen. My heart bleeds for the family, the kids that go to this school, administrators, and our city," he said.

“Howard High School of Technology”
Obviously the poor girl was a victim of “Calculus Rage”.
Is that like the “Velvet Jones School of Technology”?
I told ya all if you just get rid of all these guns......
mmmmm-hmmmmm
I sincerely apologize for not recognizing you as a DU troll earlier.
The actual number of victims of school shootings is but a pale ghost of the numbers killed by gang beatings perpetrated by thugs who value nothing more than their own self-image. This is true notwithstanding your anti-gun BS.
Small batches vs. thousands, one at a time.
Had I known your agenda, I wouldn’t have wasted our time and bandwidth.
The article stated the girl was in a fight with another girl over a boy when she got jumped. The other girls friends came in and defended her, but also killed the first girl.
What does the guy in question think about this?
Again, this was one tragic incident, and is indeed newsworthy, but I would not equate it with a mass murder event.

Doubt there are many (if any) Amish in Wilmington DE.
Is that “White Hispanic”?
I never said it was.
Don’t walk it back. Your opening gambit was that this young lady’s death was not as tragic or disgusting as the deaths of those killed in school shootings.
This leaves a couple of options...
1) That you’re a racist idiot, or worse, a lib troll trying to pretend to be a racist idiot, just to draw attention.
2) That you’re vehemently anti-gun and hoped to grind your axe on that topic.
Initially, I guessed wrong.
Either way, only an asshole would make such a value judgement on another person’s lost life.
More on point however, pick your favorite year for school shootings (or mass shootings in general if you prefer) and total them up. When you’ve finished, compare that number to the same year’s gang related homicide numbers...
You’ll find that the stats don’t support your assertion that it doesn’t equate to mass murder.
Found some Amish businesses listed in Wilmington.
It seemed that you did, based on the post that you were replying to. I don’t believe that potp said that middle-class white people were to blame for this, only that cultural rot and a lack of values contributed.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. I’ll butt-out now.
I never did say or imply that fewer people are killed in gang violence than in school shootings.
I did not mention or imply anything about race in my posts and from reading the story there does not appear to be any racial angle to the story.
Simply because I did mention shootings, does not mean I’m anti-gun.
There's a code word right there.
The DemonRATs have to be pissed. Apparently there were no “assault weapons” involved. No dancing in the blood for the ‘RATS this weekend.

Since you didn’t say, or even imply the nasty things I’ve accused you of, again; why is this girl’s death less tragic and disgusting?
There are none. Period.
