If you think the Trump campaign is full of amateurs, you are correct.
Donald Trumps social media director Dan Scavino, eager to prove that his boss was an expert on tax reform, posted a link to an appearance Trump made in 1991 before the House Budget Committee:
Theres one problem: in his testimony, not only did Trump bash Ronald Reagans Tax Reform Act of 1986, calling it a catastrophe and saying income taxes should be raised to increase investment in real estate, but Trump actually compared the United States to the Soviet Union.
Why, youd almost think Trump is a Democrat!
Check out the transcript, courtesy of C-Span:
"Well, first of all, I think I could say to Mr. Seidman, who I believe has done a really fantastic job while he was in government, that had the 1986 catastrophe of the tax reform act not been passed, Im not sure that youd know Mr. Seidman in the capacity of RTC; youd know him in some perhaps more positive capacity, but not in the Resolution Trust. And I think in bringing that point up to Mr. Seidman before he tended to agree with me, I think. (Turns to Mr. Seidman.) Good. So this tax act was just an absolute catastrophe for the country, for the real estate industry, and I really hope that something can be done as Congressman Thomas recently said, that something can be done to change at least parts of it, because it has taken all incentive away from investing in real estate, and real estate really means so many jobs."

Thanks for posting
Good find.
How dare you da this about a lifelong democrat supporter?
Go trump! God bless trump and family! God bless America! Thank you God for bringing us trump.
Is that you Ted?
Yes, but he is OUR big government liberal and he is going to put YOUR big government liberals out of a job.
Too many infiltrators bashing cruz here. If cruz gets the nomination his campaign will get $2700 richer. Trump? Use his own money.
Have they advanced tax reform? Have they stopped Obama's agenda?
Paul Ryan and the REPUBLICAN House of Representatives just funded Obama's agenda.
Trump's past liberalism vs. Republican Party treachery, i.e., voting with Democrats, siding with Democrats, denouncing conservatives, stopping Trump, using Cruz, and joining Gangs of 8 or 12....
You do the math.
... Who if elected president will be impeached for using the power of the federal government to enrich himself. It is what liberals do.
Trump’s appeal is he refuses to play by some sort of rule that you can’t attack the policies of certain Republicans.
Like Cruzer-Limbaugh said, Trump calling “crooked Hillary” has merit because Trump attacks Republican flaws in candidates all the time.
Cruz was pandering with hispanic groups with Rubio & Dubya during different decades. Dubya dumped Cruz for Jeb/Rubio & so Cruz became a conservative.
Trump just called Rubio out straight away on his amnesty crap.
He booted boring La Raza wannabe Scott Walker out of the race.
Trump is Bernie Lite.
Cruz looks like a sneaky lawyer arguing for the GOP case.
Trump is a freewheeler shooting from the hip.
C’mon Dorothy, click your heels together and answer why an opinion from a businessman in 1991, who wasn’t elected in office at the time, holds more weight than elected Republicans who sat on their asses and voted for the same agenda that’s killing us now.
I’m for Cruz, but the 1986 tax reform was a disaster for real estate, and overall was a half hearted move towards a flat tax that left the door open to creeping rate hikes and complexity, which is exactly what has happened over the last 20 years. 1981 was Reagan’s shining tax moment. 1986 was a huge missed opportunity to really reform the system.
Ain’t that the truth. If he gets elected President, there’s going to be a lot of disillusionment within a couple of years.
LOL, ought to be fun!
I bet no one here actually watched the video. I heard nothing about raising taxes.

And what was Cruz doing at that time? Still bragging he wanted to be a rich, powerful porn star?
I just watched the video.
Trump said he favored increasing the rate on the highest income payers, but he was primarily saying the New York construction market was completely stopped at that point, because there was no motive for higher-income people to actually invest. They would just pay the tax, and move on.
Trump was talking about encouraging investment, rather than just slashing tax rates. He seemed even then, to very much get it.
Go Trump. :D
