Today I want to address a popular argument made by those who try to reconcile homosexuality with Christianity. The argument is that Jesus Himself never said a word about homosexuality.
Those who make this argument grant that Paul condemned it as sinful (Rom 1:2627; 1 Cor 6:910; 1 Tim 1:910). But the sentiment behind this objection is that Paul had corrupted the way of life and the ideology that Jesus came to propagate, and that Jesus would have been loving and accepting of homosexuals, just as they are.
But is it true that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality?
Actually, like the other similar objections, there are several reasons why this argument does not hold up to biblical and logical scrutiny. Today Id like to address five of them.
Argument from Silence
First, it must be noted that this is an argument from silence, and thus rests on a shaky rational foundation. Jesus also didnt say a word about pedophilia, bestiality, or rape. But it would be absurd to seek to garner support for any of those abominable acts on the basis of such silence.

“Go, and sin no more.”
That addressed it adequately.
Here’s the thing- God called it an abomination, and Jesus NEVER refuted that- Even though He didn’t address the issue, it is still an abomination in the sight of God- Period- Had Jesus meant to do away with this fact, He would have said something along the liens of ‘Verily Verily I say onto You that You have heard it said before that homosexuality is an abomination, but I tell you the truth, it no longer is seen that way- times have changed, and seeings how so many people are doing it these days, We’ve changed our minds on the idea that it is such a grievous abomination of natural law that we condemn it with all possible severity’
Obviously He did not say anything even remotely akin to this- IF homosexuality is no longer seen as an abomination, then neither is pedophilia, bestiality, witchcraft- sex with the dead etc etc etc because by golly Jesus didn’t mention those either so that must mean He approves of them now? According to the twisted logic of sinners looking ot get a free pass while they commit the abomination of homosexuality
I thought it was a weakly written article.
Jesus said that God created them male and female and that a man shall be united to his wife and that union shall form one flesh.
That is a direct confrontation of both homosexuality and transsexuality. It says males are to have sexual union with females.
It’s actually very clear.
Re: #21
Beat me to it.
Jesus DID address the issue - in the OT as God. since the statements were clear then, as reiterated by Paul in the there shouldn’t have been a need for him to address it on earth.
Amen brother. Like Paul, I too consider myself chief amongst sinners.
It’s different. Believe me, it’s different.
Where do people get the notion that God differentiates the severity of the sin based upon the age of the flesh body? All souls/spirit intellect were created at the same time. I have read some Catholics excuse the priest as only being homosexual if they mess with a post pubescent boys. The volumes written in attempt to differentiate the severity of the sin is ridiculous. The homosexual priest knows the law, thus grooms the prepubescent boys, so the sin is view as equal by the two. God is NOT conned. Some even claim that there is no sin in being a homosexual if the person does not act upon their perversion.. Beyond ridiculous.
“For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh” - Matthew 19:5
Jesus didn’t need to address every possible aberration, depravity, and bizarre behavior to state the obvious. In this verse, he addresses the God-given, by-design, common sense biological and spiritual formula for marital relationships that He himself designed.
“...there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.” 2 Peter 3:16
Dismantling scripture to justify destructive behavior is futile.
There are many, many scriptures addressing sinful, depraved behavior and the consequences thereof. The teachings are very clear to “he who has ears to hear”.
As it is Written there is nothing new under the sun... Fortunately for those with the ears to hear and eyes to see, while repulsive, we are NOT deceived by the ruminations of the wolves dressed in sheep clothing. Amazing to live in time when Christ's warning are happening just as He foretold...
You’re saying there are different degrees of sin? Some sins are less sinful than others?
As you (should) know - any and all sins will separate us from the love of Christ. Only his blood will redeem us, forgive us and save us if we repent of those sins.
What these people don't stop to think about is that Jesus IS GOD. He is the Word made flesh, Who dwelt among us. The entire Bible is HIS. To suggest that He would disagree with any of it is blithering idiocy.
Very true.
Very true.
If you think homosexuality is anything like heterosexual philandering, you don’t know anything about the gay lifestyle. This is apart from sin or your definition of sin.
Spot on and Amen!
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

I call to my mind that scripture every time I see a public school, a public school bus, someone with an “educator” prestige car tag, or some parent engaging in horrific parental malfeasance by dumping their kid(s) into the arms of the government to be “educated”.
Matthew 19
4And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 7They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
I do not see a chap as sinning if he does not act upon bad or sinful thoughts but resists them.
Fact is all folks have some are of their life where we are flawed. But you try to resist that and change your way to match the will of the creator, to the extent you can determine it.
Doesn’t mean you particular weakness goes away. G-D might well lift it from you if he feels like it, but I seem to recall Paul had a particular “thorn in his side” that G-d did not lift but left Paul to deal with it.
If my understanding is flawed, let me know how so.
cheers
That is my understanding of it all.
Thanks. I only wish miss marmelstein has some idea of what the wages of sin are.
See post 35... Apparently she disagrees with my definition of sin. Her problem is - I didn’t define sin. God did.
And Christ forgave it.
