And in all of those primaries did you ever hear a case where someone who was mathematically eliminated stayed in the race just to force a convention fight?

Ronald Reagan 1976
He knew he was mathematically eliminated and forced a convention fight which Ford prevailed when uncommitted delegates from Mississippi switched at the convention to vote for Ford on the first ballot.
See, Reagan was hoping for a 2nd ballot or for some of Fords uncommitted delegates to switch to him.
So was the greatest President in history, Ronaldo maximus Reagan, also a cheat and a liar when he lost to Ford at the convention?

Benjamin Harrison? James Garfield? All of them were "mathematically eliminated" before the convention, none of them had the most delegates, and all of them became president.

Yeah, they stay all the time. Because technically until somebody is mathematically guaranteed a first ballot win NOBODY is mathematically eliminated. Technically they’re not forcing a fight, they’re seeing a fight is going to happen and not bowing out.

It's Trump's job to close off that possibility by getting to 1,237 delegates. Until then, these candidates have no responsibility to step aside. If Trump is nominated and the other candidates don't rally behind him, then I'll criticize them. That's true of Trump too if someone else gets the nomination but I fully expect him to go off in a childish huff. If Trump doesn't act that way, remind me of this comment and I'll publicly apologize to him on this forum.
