I have been all over the world and guess what? Depression strikes every race, creed, economic status and continent.
It is not just being sad, it goes much deeper. It has been part of the human condition for as long as we have written record in fact you can find depression mentioned in the Bible.

With due respect, this is NOT just a first world problem
India has the highest depression rate -- and India is definitely more spiritual than other countries. The USA, France, Netherlands and India have the highest rates according to the above -- Not much in common
