Selfies — it has been speculated — kill more people each year than we realize. Now, footage taken by a woman in Japan shows how close she was to being the next selfie fatality.
And believe it or not, she almost recorded her own demise.
Kelly Murphy was snowboarding in Japan's Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park near the city of Nagano when what is believed to have been an Asian black bear jumped out from behind the top of a mountain and began chasing her down the slope.

I used to do a lot of running, in-line skating and biking and I would NEVER wear headphones to listen to music........They're a recipe for disaster.

Yep! Fake! What is she doing in the middle of nowhere and buckling on her board? And when the bear appears it is usually fuzzy and when the video ends it is clear as a bell.
I’m a snowboarder but yeah, people who that piss me off and they do it in spots where I am running fastest.
I heard it said that the difference is the vacuum cleaner has the dirtbag on the inside.

We spent the week avoiding them as they sit in the worst possible places and do whatever it is they do when blocking the run. I think it's on purpose.
Makes the extra expense of going to Deer Valley well worth it. They keep threatening to let the boarders in but every year we hope they don't.

I think it could be real too. Bear was still when she started the run. Then when she moved the bear started to run. Gentile slope at first, then a steep part, where the bear begged off. So maybe bears cant run downhill!
I’ve never been chased by a bear so I can’t say from experience, but it’s the constant growling of the bear in the audio that makes me lean on the idea that it is fake. I would expect a few grunts and growls, but the whole thing seems excessive and the “convenient” panning of the camera seems too perfect to capture the moments of how close the bear was and the moment in which she goes fast enough to outrun it.
I’m just skeptical enough to I’d say between 60/40 to 70/30 it’s fake.
Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who can’t figure out where the camera is mounted.
In the old 8-bit Microsoft Skifree game, the game always ends with the abominable snowman chasing and catching you and eating you.
Unless you figure out that F8 makes you go fast, in which case you might live a little longer.
Not hilarious but the game was fun.
