No article, just video of an officer having a bad day & how a cool head and a dash cam can help an officer in need of compassion, turn his bad day into a good one!
The lesson here is to record the police.
.
Thanks for posting.
The first lesson is to be respectful to the police because the guy was out of compliance, as he admitted. Since he was going to pick up his trailer to leave for Cali, he was officially on duty the moment he left his driveway, therefore, he should have started his logbook and done a pre-trip. The cop could have still given him a ticket for this. Respect begets respect and that cop understood he could have lost his job had that dash cam video reached a courtroom.
However, this does reaffirm what we have been contemplating for a while now and we will be purchasing a dash cam for our rig this weekend.
Have a great one!!!
I’m on the fence with this. In the world we live in, I can see a case for having an always-on dash cam. I do, however, value my freedom and privacy. I’m not sure if I’d want something recording everything I do in my car. I’d be jailed for having a terrible singing voice.
Good one. And, yes, the trucker’s dash-cam certainly helped.
Love these feel good stories where everyone comes out the winner!
Trucker ran a Red light....
I was three minutes into the video, and all I was getting was that blaring garage rock and roll music. I’ll come back later when I have more time.
Kindergarten journalism 101.
John Q. Public is not a winner here. That highly unprofessional cop is still out there dealing with the public. The only reason that he changed his attitude is because his chief would have come down hard on him. If the dashcam wasn’t mentioned, I have no doubt that the cop would have written multiple citations and maybe even have done something worse as cops tend to do these days. Everyone has bad days. If you aren’t mature enough to deal with an occasional bad day fighting with your wife or kids, and you take it out on the people who pay your salary, you shouldn’t be in that job.
I’ve been running a Dashcam for the past 3 years or so. I’ve caught a number of accidents and bad driving. Including recently, a Jeep suffering “Death Wobble”. Here: https://youtu.be/HDRaL7Ld4qc or a bad Red light runner here: https://youtu.be/-sgyuuq30r0 and a few others on my youtube page.
Anyway, the best bargin in Dash Cams is a G1W-c. I ran one for about 18 months. Buy it from Amazon for about $60. The Ebay ones are fakes.
I currently run a DOD 330W which arguably has the best night vision of all the Dash Cams.
Everyone should have one in your car as a witness.
NO, the light turned red when he was half way through it
Whenever you see words like this in a headline, the story is "clickbait" and the purpose is for you to open the site so it can load your computer with advertising and possibly malware.
honestly, I was expecting to se the officer just hightail it out of there in his car, but he came back and apologized and to me that speaks a lot to his character!
both parties come out winners????
the cop was abusive and took up this citizen’s time and were it not for the evidence staring the cop in the face, he would have gotten a ticket.
the cop should not be on the force.
LOL, WE'LL be the judge of that !!
Ping me when you're ready to upload THAT video :)
Trucking 101...
If you do not have a level enough head to keep cool when an officer is having a bad day, then you better not select truck driving as your occupation.
Have a great weekend!
