Ford just made cop-spotting a whole lot harder (Red and Blue Lights, now behind the windshield)

Car enthusiasts occasionally pride themselves on being able to pick out police cars from far away. I don't condone speeding, but if you ignore my wishes, it's a good idea to at least be smart about it. That's about to get a whole lot harder with Ford's new low-profile LED light bar.

Even sneakier than the roof-mounted light bar is the visor-mounted light bar, which attaches up near the sun visors inside the cabin, basically disappearing behind the windshield. Ford's new low-profile light bar is fully integrated outside of the driver's field of vision, for both reduced obstruction and a lower chance of scofflaws realizing five-o is in hot pursuit.

I usually go 10mph over, one day north of Houston I was going 75 in a 65 and a black car passes me so I figured I’d follow at about 85, well when I passed him he put his lights on and I started to pull over and he just wizzed past me. what a relief that was.

Why did you pass him, instead of following?

We need a chip in our car so they can sit in their office and issue tickets to speeders who show up on their computer screens. Coming soon.

You bet. But they wont even need an office. The software will detect the offenders, log them and issue the citations quickly. The technology is there. In fact they could just install the technology into the car, and it spits your copy of the citation right out of the dash.

I recently participated in a police revenue exercise via a speed trap in Humble Texas. Told the officer that we were headed to eat dinner at a local restaurant, but that now we would be leaving and I’d be writing to the local chamber of commerce to let them know what happened and why. That no-spend-in-humble policy will stay in place till I hear they cut that garbage out.

If it all going to be about the money, I’ll make dang sure they know that I have a choice to spend my money someplace else.

No thanks! Traffic flows much smoother when police cars are unmarked. Put a marked police car on the road and drivers are hitting the brakes and slowing everyone behind them.

This will be required for new cars. Those owning older models like you will be required to pay the annual Technology Exception Tax.

In LA, the only time everyone goes the speed limit is when a cop is in the vicinity. You can always tell on non-rush hour freeways, ya get 8 lanes going from 80 to about 60. And it stays that way for everyone until the cop exits.

Ya mean Republicans never concoct/support frivolous taxes, fees, fines, regulations, assessments, bad policies, et al. Thanks for the hot tip.

Wont matter to radar users.

Will make pacing speeders (not using radar) easier for cops.
