Here’s how you know people generally disfavor socialism. Proponents of socialism take a parent to child approach by wrapping a distasteful thing (socialism) inside something seen as more palatable (democrocy). Viola, cheese covered broccoli. Except Democratic Socialism is still socialism, with all the trappings and pitfalls of a miserable population, a crap economy, and a huge gap between rich and poor. Also, spoiler alert: the USA is a REPUBLIC. Stop saying we’re a democracy already. I explain in detail below.

One thing all socialists have in common is that they all regard opposition to socialism as illegitimate, and no attempt to "turn back the clock" (ie, repeal socialism if the people don't like it) will be tolerated. It's like the Brezhnev Doctrine: once a country goes socialist, it must remain socialist.

They recognize no right to express opposition to socialism once it is installed, whether in speech, press, assembly, or thought. All the rights we take for granted to them have only one purpose: the triumph of socialism. Anti-socialists have no rights.

America's "democratic socialists" are totalitarians. With the Democrat party, they even have their Third World institutional party.
