Donald Trump is at it again. The Republican presidential candidate who says hes pro-life but praises the Planned Parenthood abortion business is now making the entirely pro-life movement look ridiculous with his latest comments.
While pro-life advocates yearn for the day when unborn children are protected under law and abortions are banned, the pro-life movement has historically opposed punishing women who have abortions instead focusing on holding abortion practitioners criminally accountable for the unborn children they kill in abortions.
That pro-woman mentality is partly due to the understand that the abortion industry preys on women selling them abortions by lying to them about the humanity of their unborn children and the destructive effects abortion will have. The pro-woman, pro-life attitude is also partly due to the fact that the pro-life movement is led by millions of women who had abortions and now deeply regret their decisions, thanks to a change of heart on abortion, or a religious conversion or a simply understanding that they took the life of their own child.
Now, in new comments that are causing even pro-life people to cringe, Donald Trump says women should be punished if abortion is banned again. Heres more:
In a taped town hall interview with MSNBCs Chris Matthews to be aired later on Wednesday, Trump was pressed on how he would go about banning abortion.
Should abortion be punished? This is not something you can dodge, Matthews asked him.
Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say, Yes, it should, Trump responded.
Matthews then pressed him for a straight answer on what a ban on abortion would entail.
Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it, Trump answered.
The former reality television star later added that there has to be some form of punishment, for women who get abortions after a ban is implemented, acknowledging the punishment would have to be determined.
Leading pro-life advocates on Twitter collectively face-palmed were quick to point out the ineptitude of Trumps comments, saying they make him loko as if he is not genuinely pro-life:
I forgot to ad......GOD WILL PUNISH THEM!!!!
I think that Donald Jr. has 5 Kids...FIVE!! FABULOUS!!
A couple of conservative principles that deserve a hearing, are the principles that laws have to be both passable (by legislature) and enforceable (by the police powers of the state.)
A proposed law that finds aborting women guilty of homicide, is guaranteed neither passable nor enforceable.
In practical fact, pre-Roe vs Wade, prosecutions of abortionists were usually triggered by the appearance of an injured abortion client in the ER. Her testimony was usually the key to obtaining a conviction.
I don’t think any abortionist will ever be convicted -— ever -— if the woman is not seen, in law and in practice, as a co-victim rather than a perp.
Yeah that’s worked so well over the years.
I think he may have to put it context.
I got in that car when the news came out. I listened to talk radio all the way home. This has hit like a NUCLEAR BOMB. Republicans calling in saying they will not vote for him now. It was 100% saying it was a stupid comment.
I can’t believe his minders did not warn him off abortion!!!!
let’s not forget, Trump voters are Repubs, Democrats and Third Party. it’s over unless he can walk it back.
So what?
You think those people will listen to a technical explanation?
Shut up, Dick.
It can be done but it’s usually not just one message. It takes 9 to 12 times for someone hearing the message to accept it. If it’s delivered the wrong way it will push them away. These people have heard the opposite since they were born.
She is the person who hired the murderer. She is more guilty.
“undoubtedly willing participants”
not always. Those cases where a woman is abused (especially incest) or threatened have to be taken into consideration. The providers should be thrown in jail as should the one who threatened the life of the woman. lawyer speak = under duress.
I totally agree. It is folly to believe that it can be stopped otherwise.
If there are no legal abortions, people will go underground. Abortions have ALWAYS been with us, they will always be with us.
... there has to be some form of punishment, for women who get abortions after a ban is implemented,...
I think Trump flipped the question back to the journalist
I think Trump is making the point that a ban is useless the ban is enforced with negative consequences.
Do we put women in prison, levy a fine, community service??
So for those 700,000 new murder trials annually, the jury will have to determine WHY the person who got the abortion decided to hire a murderer?
Five, and the oldest is eight!
Funny how Ted's working hand in glove on the same meme.
From my family to yours, we wish you all a very happy Easter. pic.twitter.com/qXsRDTQrhq— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) March 27, 2016
What kind of a crap answer is that? He would stump for going back to illegal places to then ban them? What the hell is that?
The former reality television star later added that there has to be some form of punishment, for women who get abortions after a ban is implemented, acknowledging the punishment would have to be determined.
Of all the pro-life people I know, I have never, ever heard any of them say that there would have to be some sort of punishment for women AT ANY TIME. This guy is stupid. He has no idea about the subject except that he has written checks to Planned Parenthood. And people think he would make America great again? How? By sending post-pregnant women to jail?
He never mentions the doctors who cut little babies up for sale. He never mentions the atrocities of Gosnell.
He has no grasp of abortion issues but he does have a plethora of disservice to women. Maybe that is why he would like to see them punished.
Experience has shown that prosecuting the woman is un-passable as legislation and un-enforceable in practice.
I'm sure the filthy abortion industry would love to see us waste another couple of decades swallowing our tails and shooting our allies trying to advance proposals which are un-passable and un-enforceable.
Would you lie to know what kind of legislation has actually closed clinics --- not just a few, not just dozens, but hundreds of them --- in the USA? Legislation that requires abortion clinics meet the same health and safety standards already applied to all other ambulatory surgery centers.
That's what you have to work for: actually closing the damn clinics. Not making yourself feel righteous by advocating laws that will never be enacted, to punish girls and women in the name of God.
GOD BLESS THEM!!!....He already has!!!! 5 children!!
