7 months out, before the conventions, etc. such hypothetical matchup polls are absolutely meaningless. They are not an indication of strength or weakness for any particular candidate.
These types of polls specifically are "boob bait for bubbas" no matter who they show winning or losing. Got it?

It's important to distinguish between polls which are an attempt to measure public opinion, and those which merely try to manipulate public opinion.
The difference between the two usually isn't subtle, so you should learn it.
