Nearly 500,000 People ‘Gone to Texas,’ Says U.S. Census Bureau

The expression “Gone to Texas,” an 1800’s colloquialism popularized to mean pulling up stakes for a fresh start in life, lived up to its reputation when the U.S. Census Bureau released its latest population estimates. Nearly half a million people relocated in the Lone Star State in just one year, more than in any other state in the nation.

On March 24, the U.S. Census Bureau released statistics that tracked the state’s explosive population growth. Four Texas metro areas added more people in the one year period from July 1, 2014 to July 1, 2015 than in any other state in the nation except for Texas as a whole, which gained approximately 490,000 new residents.

Topping the list, the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugarland metropolitan area experienced the greatest population increase during this period, adding about 159,000 residents. Following closely was the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex, with 145,000 new people. Both of these Texas metro areas showed the largest gains nationwide. Neighboring Austin-Round Rock and San Antonio-New Braunfels ranked among the 16 regions to gain 50,000 or more people over the one year period. The Census Bureau cited these four areas alone as adding about 412,000 people.

Yup... we are getting swarmed from not only our southern border, but our northern and western borders as well. Growth is booming with illegal aliens and people fleeing the oppressive economics of blue states. They come here in droves to vote democrat and try to make Texas like the places they left from.

We need a wall that goes all the way around.

I think that this country is gonna break up at some point inthe next 50 years....

Ideally it would be into three countries.

The United States of:
Atlantica, Pacifica and the “America” (consisting of Most of the Midwest and possibly Texas if Texas doesn;t decide to go it’s own way).

But we will see...

You guys will need to build about 20,000 2-story apartment building across the Texas plains. A Muslim owned greedy mart on every corner!

The fed gov says massive populations are key to success...lol

Some of the freaks are probably turning up in New San Francisco (Austin) while others are probably going to the big cities for work.

The are likely mostly Liberals fleeing the horrible messes that they created in their home states.

I’m not in those numbers but moved back to my native Texas from LA in late July 2015. My new city of Dallas has turned out to be great from a financial standpoint and also as nice as LA for restaurants, culture, art, etc. And so much easier traffic too!

Three isn’t enough - need 6 countries (Putin said 5).

New Europa - everything east of the Hudson/Champlain line, including New York City. Also Broward and Dade counties, Florida, and the Keys.

South Canada - West of the Hudson, North of the Ohio River to a point where it intersects an extension of the Mason Dixon line, then thence east to a point even with the northernmost point of the Potomic thence along the water to the Atlantic, and east of the Mississippi River. Also the southwest counties of Florida. Ontario given an option to join by plebiscite.

New Confederacy - South of the Ohio, east of the Appalachicola/Mississippi excluding Florida counties ceded to New Europa and South Canada.

Texas Republic - South of a line congruent with the current northern Oklahoma border, but extended from the Mississippi River to the Rio Grande River.

Pacifica - Coastal counties of California excluding San Diego, but adding Alameda, Contra Costa, and Napa, Coastal counties of Oregon, Counties of King, Pierce, Lewis, and Skamania, and those to the west of them; all of Hawaii.

Heartland - all states and portions thereof not otherwise allocated, including Alaska.

I believe the “Gone to Texas” statement is attributed to David Crockett, who, having been defeated for his seat as a Tennessee congressman, said of his constituents: “They can go to hell. I’m going to Texas.”

I keep telling people that if it stings, bites or sticks, you’ll find it in Texas. Then, they come here and complain that everything in Texas stings, bites and sticks.

They come here in droves to vote democrat and try to make Texas like the places they left from.

If not for the biannual legislative sessions, the fire ants and the 115-degree summer heat, the leftists would've already tipped Texas to the dark side.

They keep building new roads, and the people keep on coming.

The jobs are here as well.

I would like to know where from though. I bet you its mostly from kooky states with ultra liberal policies who couldn't live under the "utopia" they created.

Those of you thinking of moving here:

Forget about it, don't even think about it.

The food sucks, there aren't any jobs, all our women are ugly, the housing situation is awful and traffic is a nightmare.

And we've run out of water.

Also, the cactus is radioactive.

It's a terrible place to live.

Stay.
