Report: Bill Belichick walks away from Goodell speech

It's no secret the Deflategate controversy caused a rift between commissioner Roger Goodell and the New England Patriots.

Head coach Bill Belichick doesn't seem to be bothering to hide his personal feelings for the commissioner at the NFL annual spring meetings this week.

Goodell is giving a speech to head coaches, owners, etc. in a banquet room. Belichick is walking down the hall in the opposite direction.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) March 20, 2016 It's not clear whether Belichick was intending to make a statement against Goodell with his lack of attendance, but it would certainly fit his personality.

if they really pull the Superbowl from Georgia’s bidding, over its protection of ministers who don’t want to perform gay marriage, a lot more people will be walking out

Wonderful reporting. How about some gist of what Goodell was talking about? That might shed some light on the situation instead of fostering speculation.

The Falcons’ ownership should also walk out since Goodell is threatening Atlanta with taking away future Super Bowls if our governor signs the religious freedom legislation on his desk. Hey, worked on Indiana.

My dislike for Goodell is far stronger than for Belichick. Belichick seems like a jerk, but Goodell is destroying the game I loved. Liberal PC faggot...

If the bone heads have a rule, they ought to have means to control or enforce it. The NFL is stoopid.

Roger Goodell paid $34 million in 2014 compensation.

Belichick is not a jerk; he’s a survivor.
Goodell is, the fool.

I think it is likely that a big part of the reason he seems like a jerk is because of having to deal with people like Goodell.

Bill Belichick completed his 40th season as an NFL coach in 2014 and won his fourth Super Bowl, tying Pittsburgh’s Chuck Noll for most Super Bowl wins by a head coach. Belichick is one of only five head coaches with four or more titles in NFL history. He is also the only head coach in NFL history to win three Super Bowl championships in a four-year span. Belichick leads all active coaches and is currently fourth all-time with 246 total victories as a head coach. In 2014, Belichick passed Hall of Famer Curly Lambeau for fourth place on the NFL wins list and his winning percentage of .667 ranks second in NFL history among coaches with 150 or more wins, trailing only George Halas (.682). He has led the Patriots to a winning record for 15 consecutive seasons (2001-15). The only other NFL coach to have at least 10 consecutive winning seasons with one team since the 1970 merger was Tom Landry with 16 (1970-85). Belichick has also notched 23 postseason wins in his career, most by a head coach in NFL history.

He’ll pass everyone else this season and hold every record in the book. He keeps his SIX super bowl rings in a box - 4 with the Pats and 2 with the NYG.

Goodell has a fantastic history of....

I’m an Eagles fan, so I have to dislike Belichick. j/k

He seems very cold to me. To each his own.

As I said in different words, Goodell sucks.

Belichick is an awesome coach and extremely successful. He still seems very cold to me. I’m sure his players like him.

My main point, which seems to have been lost, is that Goodell is a PC asshat.

Coach is the only one that sticks up to dickhead Goodell - the arrogant eff-head. Bravo BB.

This is such a Joke. Goodell only represents Kraft. He was forced to do something about deflategate because the rest of the owners would tar and feather him for how much he caters to the Patriots. Especially how he shit down the cheating investigation. At the end of the day, Goodell made sure Brady wasn’t punished.

All the hardworking ones do. The others aren’t there long enough to find out what kind of guy he is.
