Who is more statist? Trump or Cruz?
Mark Levin attempted to paint Trump as a 'statist'.*
'Statist' means 'big government' and 'centralized power'.
So let's compare Trump and Cruz.
First there are two points in Cruz' favor:
Cruz is opposed to Big Ethanol and wants to completely defund Family Planning. Small differences fiscally speaking, but those are two examples of Trump being a 'statist'. [Two for Levin.]
Health care is a wash. Trump and Cruz are both anti-statist on that issue because they both seek to de-centralize.
Now for important differences:
Point 1: Twenty five percent of federal employees would quit under the Trump presidency.* Trump is notorious as a cost-cutter. Is that statist? It's a stab at the very heart of Levin's point.
Point 2: Leftist rent-a-mobs are statist. Cruz blamed Trump for his anti-statist attitude about these brown shirts.
One reason democrats seem more popular than they do is because they have followed the Nazi maxim to 'conquer the streets'. These goons even conquer public rallies.
This is the most dangerous aspect of statist power and might be the worst political error Cruz has ever made.
Point 3: Senator Cruz did much more than simply vote for Chief Justice Roberts. He pushed for him. On the flip side, Trump's top two judicial considerations are anything but statist. Cruz is actually closer to being a statist regarding judicial nominees, and that is supposed to be his greatest strength!

Why Mark Levin is in Error
Levin equates populism with progressivism and statism.
But the dominant element of Trump's populism has nothing to do with big ethanol or family planning.
Here are the driving forces behind Trump's populism:
Point 1: Trump promises to waterboard. [Cruz ducks that particular issue.]
Point 2: Trump's trade policy. [Cruz opposes.]
Point 3: Trump's muslim ban. [Cruz opposes.]
Point 4: Most definitive of all is Trump's enthusiasm for a border wall. Cruz agrees, but he failed to be as confrontational with Mexico, thus his enthusiasm was less intense.
What do all four of those differences have in common?
Patriotism.
That's why Trump is referred to as a 'nationalist'.
Patriotic populism is not 'progressivism'.

I still admire Mark Levin.
His Liberty Amendments movement which is downright revolutionary. He's the Madison of this century. And Trump is also revolutionary in his patriotic courage.
I hope that Levin will one day appreciate what is being achieved.

GMO seed and big pharma are but one big entity that has many divisions. Big pharma is by large one of the most notorious lobbyist entities in DC.
As soon as we get a handle on immigration we should get more privacy restored. But once we have, then it would be statist to support excessive snooping.
So thats a good issue for the next presidential campaign.
Sorry, I don't agree. The growth of government power and subsequent reductions of our freedoms is the number one issue in EVERY election.
The ruling elite will always be sure there is war, terrorism, or rampant illegal activity to assure us now is not the time to reduce government intrusion. It's how they've always done things. It will continue to be how they do things until we elect courageous people like Ted Cruz who aren't afraid to stand up to them.
Well, this discussion is moot anyway. Cruz is ineligible to be President and he will summarily get destroyed and humiliated if the GOPe hands him the nomination, or if he is chosen as VP.
The worst part is that Cruz knows he is ineligible. Does anyone really believe that Cruz has no knowledge of Natural Law and it's importance to the Foundation of our republic?
Note the reference to Natural Law in the first sentence of our Declaration of Independence.
It is crystal clear that the Founding Fathers used the Natural Law definition of 'natural born Citizen' when they wrote Article II. By invoking "The Laws of Nature and Nature's God" the 56 signers of the Declaration incorporated a legal standard of freedom into the forms of government that would follow.
President John Quincy Adams, writing in 1839, looked back at the founding period and recognized the true meaning of the Declaration's reliance on the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." He observed that the American people's "charter was the Declaration of Independence. Their rights, the natural rights of mankind. Their government, such as should be instituted by the people, under the solemn mutual pledges of perpetual union, founded on the self-evident truth's proclaimed in the Declaration."

The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God: The True Foundation of American Law
The Supreme Court of the United States has never applied the term natural born citizen to any other category than those born in the country of parents who are citizens thereof.
Yep. And Cruznadians who bring up his Mother who was born in Delaware - yes, but she was working in Canada and may have held Canadian citizenship in 1970. Canada did not allow dual-citizenship in 1970. And his father was clearly a Cuban national.
His interview where he said he didn’t want people “dying in the streets” and asked who was going to pay for it he said “the government.” You Trumpettes don’t even believe crap when it comes straight out of his mouth.
Levin never questioned ineligible Kenyan’s sailing into presidency, just as he is not questioning Cubans Cruz and Rubio eligibility.
Some constitutional lawyer!!!
His push for Cruz and dumping on Trump is sickening, can’t take it anymore!
Yap, yap, yap....
Levin started losing it just before the Iowa caucuses.
He spent several programs lecturing on the evils of ethanol. Then, he used that an a lead-in to trash Trump. Night after night, hour after hour.
Ironically, at the time ethanol was not even on the list of major concerns of Iowans.
Since then, every program has been Trump bashing. Sometimes, he would have a lead-in diatribe, but it always became another bash Trump episode. Sometimes it would take up to 20 minutes before the bashing began. Other time, it took less than 2 minutes.
Many, including me, use the “OFF” button. Levins ratings are also reflecting that.
13 minute video reveals that Trump “GETS IT.”
This is why the oligarchs are suffering embarrassing bouts of public diurnal enuresis.
There will be MANY MORE attempts on Trump and his family. I just pray they FAIL and the criminals responsible face justice (but I’m not holding my breath).
I haven’t been an Alex Jones fan as his stuff tends toward the sensational. That said, hearing that there REALLY IS a plan in place to take over the world can be rather sensational to folks who hear it for the first time and/or suffer severe guilt for knowing it — and have done nothing to resist while knowing that their children and grandchildren will be denied the birthright THEY inherited!
Now — thanks to Trump — that that plan is becoming clear to millions of folks, Jones is becoming more mainstream every day.
Here is one of his more “interesting” videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDr2NJPv8kE
PLEASE WATCH THEN SHARE WIDELY!
I think you have that right.
I'm sorry, but all respect has been lost for Levin. I can accept Beck going off the deep end, he's crazy. But Levin? To me he is doing nothing but damaging his reputation. Right now, a majority of Republicans are backing Trump, he is alienating a big part of his audience and the longer he goes, the more people leave him. I am a daily Rush listener and he has been somewhat fair. Perhaps, Levin could learn a lesson from that. And should Trump win the nomination, I highly doubt that he will support him. Yes , he did say that he would support the eventual winner. But he also said that he didn't endorse anybody too (at least till about 2 weeks ago).
I also am distressed by Mark’s increasingly emotional, almost histrionic support of Ted Cruz. Cruz would make a fine president and has been my second choice after Trump. But Mark seems to be coming unhinged about the entire matter and has, as stated, been losing credibility with many listeners. It is particularly unpleasant to listen to his interaction with “callers,” so during those segments I typically change to cable news, such as FNC (especially Sean Hannity), FBN (especially Lou Dobbs), or Newsmax TV (especially Steve Malzberg, JD Hayworth, or Dennis Michael Lynch). A couple of months ago on his program, Mark said that “someone” had leaked the information that the son of Mark’s girlfriend is (or was at the time) an employee of the Cruz campaign; and Mark vowed to discover the identity of the leaker, which he said was most likely a political campaign. This was discussed on several websites, but to my knowledge (please correct me if I’m wrong) the issue was never revisited by Mark on air; and I’m wondering whether it is a factor in his increasingly virulent attacks on Trump. In any event, Mark is still one of my main sources for conservative political commentary, and I hope he will eventually regain his composure and objectivity. He still has plenty of credit in his account with many of us who have followed him for years and especially appreciate him as a fellow dog lover.
Wasn’t Carson the first to voice that Islam is incompatible with the Constitution? An inference can be made that he would also stop muslim immigration to do more effective vetting.
That is a lie, and it's that particular lie that woke me up to the fact that Cruz is a liar.
Trump said his plan would not allow people who are absolutely destitute to "die in the street."
Obviously, for those absolutely destitute people, the government would pay. As it does now.
Cruz immediately translated Trump's statement into "single-payer socialized healthcare FOR ALL AMERICANS."
Cruz's lie, which you and many other FReepers have been repeating, is what exposed Cruz as a liar. Cruz's subsequent support of the Soros-funded riots against Trump, by blaming Trump, exposed Cruz as the NWO Bush sock-puppet that he is.
I understand that McConnell and McCain question Cruz eligibility and are backed by a Harvard professor who accurately defines original intent, but ...
That’s the most provocative point of attack against Cruz. It hardens support, increases polarization. We are beating him in less polarizing ways ...

BECK: CRUZ THE FULFILLMENT OF MORMON PROPHECY...
[Breitbart report. Couldn’t copy the link, but it’s on Drudge.]

Beck used to be incredible the way he exposed Cloward & Piven, Soros connections, Agenda 21, etc.
Now he’s on a ‘holy crusade’.
When the dust settles, I hope he will sheath his light saber and become part of the solution again, the Sick Twisted Freak I had learned to admire.
While Levin misjudges Trump, I try to remember the feud between Jefferson and Hamilton as well as Jefferson and Adams.
FJB noted that Mark Levin gets extremely attached to pets. He subconsciously views Cruz as a faithful hound. A character flaw, but Levin is worth forgiving.
Liberty Amendments!
Uh, NO....are you ignorant of what Trump said or deliberately falsifying?
"for the most it's going to be a private plan
and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans
with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies
and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything."
