I have been through several of the Free Republic "Silly Seasons", aka, the Republican presidential primaries. Every one of them is rough, but this is the worst one of all.
I'm guilty of being a dog, but even this dog can learn new tricks. Here is my proposal:
LET NO ONE SPEAK ILL OF ANYONE ELSES CANDIDATE. ONLY POST POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT *YOUR* CANDIDATE.
I think that would just about eliminate the rancor.
We won't get 100% participation. But heck, if we got even a fraction of that, Free Republic would be a lot nicer a place, in this, the worst of all "Silly Seasons".
I pledge to do this. Who else is on board? Chime in!

It would be good to do, but the truth must be revealed. I think the emo smears should definitely go, but if a truth (not taken out of context or created by the progressives) is found and necessary, then the thread should be created. If an opinion thread is shared, it should not be “news” and definitely a vanity.

"How about leave the candidates alone but go after their supporters?" We're all on the same team here at FR. I think if we were to go after supporters' families that would be OK though.
