A thought on how to change the tone around here.

I have been through several of the Free Republic "Silly Seasons", aka, the Republican presidential primaries. Every one of them is rough, but this is the worst one of all.

I'm guilty of being a dog, but even this dog can learn new tricks. Here is my proposal:

LET NO ONE SPEAK ILL OF ANYONE ELSES CANDIDATE. ONLY POST POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT *YOUR* CANDIDATE.

I think that would just about eliminate the rancor.

We won't get 100% participation. But heck, if we got even a fraction of that, Free Republic would be a lot nicer a place, in this, the worst of all "Silly Seasons".

I pledge to do this. Who else is on board? Chime in!

I support your suggestion, and I’ve been trying to stay above the fray. I am fairly disgusted with the level of sleazy rancor displayed. Amongst my fellow non-democrat/socialists, there are quite a few rude, judgmental, straight up nasty posters. It stresses me out lol.

I imagine someone may have already said the following - it isn’t just about avoiding making a negative comment about a candidate you are not supporting - it is also about refraining from insulting the supporters of your not-candidate.

My choices are Cruz and Trump in that order. Any of the Republican candidates are light years ahead of either of the Democrats.
