At a media availability in Chicago, GOP Presidential candidate Ted Cruz blamed Donald Trump for the violence and protests that occurred earlier in the day at a Donald Trump rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago. The rally had to be cancelled due to safety concerns.

Cruz' words on camera:

"What we're seeing, is we're seeing Republicans unifying behind our campaign. We're seeing Republicans coming together. This race has become a two-person race. Between me and Donald Trump. And more and more Republicans are unifying behind our campaign.”

“And I also want to mention something about the events this evening. In Chicago. This is a sad day. Political discourse should occur in this country without a threat of violence. Without anger and rage and hatred directed at each other. We need to learn to have disagreements without being disagreeable—to have disagreements while respecting human beings on the other side. Earlier today, over 30 people were arrested at one rally, and then tonight, as violence broke out, the rally was cancelled altogether. Now, the responsibility for that lies with protesters who took violence into their own hands, but in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of the campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters—when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

So one Trump supporter throws one lousy punch at protester that is screaming and giving everyone at the Trump rally the finger and you equate that with the rioting by leftists in Chicago tonight? You and Ted are despicable.

Can we hear from a single Cruz supporter here at FR who stands behind Cruz’s comments?

I was a Ted Cruz supporter until tonight and it was not because I did not feel welcomed here. It was because instead of coming out tonight with a reaganesque statement he refused to acknowledged that Donald Trump paid for that microphone and instead blamed Donald Trump for moveon funded organized protestors turning to violence. Based on what Ted Cruz stated, if Sarah Palin were his opponent instead of Donald Trump she would be the blame for the 2011 shooting of Gabrielle Giffords.

This guy is getting just plain weird. That wasn't just obnoxious, it was weird ... and manipulative and also disconnected. I think Cruz might have a little of the autism-sociopath spectrum going on. I'm talking degrees along a continuum ... but that he strikes me as leaning in those directions - not that far - but more than 'slightly' - he seems to be standing in both of those squares.

He will do or say anything for power.

Apparently so. I watched the video, my jaw dropped as he blamed Trump for this. I am officially livid.

I used to hope he would become the Veep. I supported him for the better part of a year, even financially. Now I just don't want to hear from him any more.

Battlelines are becoming clear, maybe even for some hardcore Cruz supporters.

I relistened to Ted’s remarks. Every time I hear him speak I’m reminded he’s a Harvard lawyer and politician. Didn’t help himself tonight blaming Trump.

Trump supports explicit limits on free speech.

Trump uses profanity against conservative opponents but his followers think he is above public criticism

“Cruz = Bush Trojan Horse Operative to keep Conservatives in check= GOPe = DNC”

Enlightened1=unenlightened nutcase

Cruz is one a very few willing to take on the GOPe, Dems, Planned Parenthood, Obama.

Do you really think the government shutdown on Obamacare, the attempt to do so to stop Planned Parenthood funding, and the willingness to filibuster to stop a supreme court nomination indicate cooperation with a leftwing agenda?

Are you going to put forward the theory that Cruz is a reptilian alien next?

Ted and his wife Heidi worked in the GWB White House. They say they were the first couple married who'd met or gotten together because both were Bushies. Cruz is an insider's insider. He only struck upon the "outsider" scam four years ago. (Roger Stone points that out.) As his path to power. It contradicted everything he'd ever done (Ivy League colleges, slick Ivy League lawyer, Bush White House) and that Heidi had ever done (High positions in Bush White House, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, right-hand to top Bush trade guy, Zoellrick, JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs out of college, THEN the Bush administration, then followed Zoellrick back to Goldman Sachs, where she has been steadily promoted until now she is one step away from the top: partner.)

These people are phonies. SOO similar to Bill and Hil. TRULY a twofer. All that family sh!t? Heidi herself says she works 80 hours a week, she recommends to other women they get a live-in nanny (or more than one), and when Ted visits home from Washington, the daughters call him a "guest."

“Cruz supported BLM and the thugs tonight.”

Either you did not actually listen to what Cruz said, or you are so mesmerized a an amazing media personality that you have lost your ability to think.
